I've naively thought there was always a slight speed advantage in drone pics.

There certainly is at ATR Courses,loper

Drones are about half a second. RTV on Betfair is 0.45 seconds behind the Racetech feed, which has always been about 0.2-.03 seconds behind actual live

so if liquidity is low,why do people go to the bother or renting/hiring them ,the amount of so called  mug money available to hoovernup  must be miniscule

Presumably the advantage is the perspective vs the broadcast pics. Notts is practically head on until the last 100 yards or so, and pretty tricky to ascertain who has the lead and the momentum.

They presumably would be a great advantage in the place market, as other PICs concentrate on winner, IF there was any liquidity there (can be measured in pence)

Why not try the drone pics for a week and see for yourself what/if the advantage ?
