Jockey plus trainer Tony Martin received a €3,000 fine after the pair were found guilty under the non-trier rule following Eben Zaabeel’s third-placed effort at Limerick on Friday evening
Ironically enough, the jersey winner was beaten at very long odds on in a maiden after travelling to Ayr from Ireland. Heff travelled to Scotland to ride in a class 4 maiden. Quite an odd affair. In its next race it won a listed contest.

Trouble is they are paid to cheat , that is their job . No jockeys are cheating by their choice , if they did they would never get any rides , no trainer puts up a jockey they can`t trust to ride to their orders. They are paid to do the dirty work of others in these cases .

Race 7 - 5:23pm THE SALLY ST VINCENT'S HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4)
Permission was given for PRINCE OF PILLO (IRE) and PARISIAC (IRE) to go early to post.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of KELPIE GREY, ridden by Amie Waugh and trained by Jim Goldie which was held up and tenderly ridden from two and a half furlongs out, to finish sixth of fourteen, beaten 4 lengths. The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer examined the gelding post-race and had nothing to report. The rider stated her instructions were to drop in and get cover and to ride the gelding with the aim to get him to finish his race as the gelding has not finished strongly in its past few races. Waugh added that she didn’t have the clearest of runs which she reported at scales on weighing in. She further added that after its previous race, it was felt that new tactics should be tried with KELPIE GREY who usually makes the running. The Trainer confirmed the instructions adding that following its previous run at Hamilton where the gelding disappointed after making the running, the rider on that occasion had suggested trying to hold KELPIE GREY up as the gelding may have become disillusioned with making the running. The Trainer further added that the ride had accorded with his instructions except that Waugh had failed to make sufficient effort and could have been more vigorous. Waugh was suspended for 14 days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure her horse was run on its merits.

There are times when I think the game is almost completely random. It gives me heart to see a ride like that that proves it is NOT random. There are days when THEY are having a go, and days when THEY clearly are not. Not random.
