Much worse than the Derby favourite so why wasn't the Horse declared a non runner?

ADRESTIA had a small amount of blood in its mouth in the parade ring. Having been checked by the Veterinary Surgeon, the filly was deemed fit to race.

Josephine Gordon, the rider of ADRESTIA, drawn 10, was slow to remove the blindfold. Gordon’s explanation that the blindfold was stuck on the bridle on the first attempt before successfully removing it on the second attempt, was noted.
