Anyone know if this is confirmed? Surely it's a pointless exercise sticking at a mile, but he is still in on the first day? He beat True Love last year. That one is single figures, he is 33/1?

Only just seen this post, he looks big for the reasons that you give.

The owner has the Ward runner and he was only beaten 4 and a bit in the Irish 2000, could he be a Jersey type?
Report Delashay June 11, 2026 11:19 AM BST
Dams sire the Italian horse was placed in the Lockinge.

Why would you run in a Jersey? A stiff seven, and it isn't a Group 1. Pointless. His best form is at six furlongs. He should be a shoe-in to run in the Commonwealth, but clearly he should be at least half the price which makes you wonder if someone has given a steer.
Report Delashay June 11, 2026 11:32 AM BST
Because at the time I thought he was beaten not far enough for a sprinter in the Irish 2000, that stood out as making the firm look iffy.

Added to the way that Moore had to get moving as far out as the cut off.

Sometimes they’ll run a horse at its level and trip which means it best has a chance as you know.

9 starts 2 wins that win against True Love was in a 5 runner race.

This field will be packed.

It will be packed in terms of numbers, but not sure in terms of quality.

The comments when he beat True Love

Made virtually all, faced challenge after 2f, shaken up and went clear under 2f out, ridden and faced challenge inside final furlong, kept on well, gamely

He was getting 6 easy at the Curragh as a 2 year old.

The comments from the Irish 2000

Raced in second, lost second 2f out, hung right then no extra inside final furlong

He lasted until 6F but still had enough left to only be beaten 4+.

Yes he won a G1 at two but is he the same horse?

When I say about finding their level I mean in as much in terms for confidence. Remember how Cecil dropped Twice Over into Listed to get his confidence back.

Graffard is hoping to do the same with Calandagan, he’s done it wirh Goliath after he lost it totally going out east.

I’d not put you off backing it, it is over priced for the reasons you give and I think that it’s a race where the favs can be beat.

There might be another angle in this though.

As regards Ward, he is fast becoming yesterday's man. People now expect his horses to get beat. If Outfielder comes here, I see no reason why Powder Blue shouldn't do the same. He will be running over a stiff six furlongs, so if he has lost a little speed, then that test should be ideal.
Report Delashay June 11, 2026 12:00 PM BST
I get your points about trip etc, the owner will be desperate to have a winner, came close in this last year with a decent priced one.

I don’t know if you’ve read this?

Power Blue has been backed to make his mark this summer after a brave effort to finish fourth in the Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh.

Having finished his thoroughly consistent juvenile campaign as a Group One winner when downing subsequent 1000 Guineas scorer True Love in the Phoenix Stakes, the Amo Racing-owned colt has not been disgraced when mixing it with the very best in three outings so far this term.

He upgraded his Newmarket seventh in his second shot at Classic honours and having narrowly missed out on a place on the podium, his rider David Egan is confident there will be big days to come from Robson Aguiar’s son of Space Blues, who holds an entry for the St James’s Palace for Royal Ascot.

Egan said: “I was so proud of him, he’s a really gritty horse who wears his heart on his sleeve – he was under pressure a long way from home and stuck to his task well. I thought I was going to be third, but I was mugged late on by Jamie Spencer riding a waiting race.

“I’m not necessarily sure where he stands trip-wise, he’s so tough he does stay the mile but I don’t think dropping back to seven furlongs will be a problem and he will have plenty of options.

“He’s a Group One winner who has definitely improved from two to three, but it is just the level of three-year-olds this year are at a very high standard. He’s a quality horse and I’m looking forward to getting to ride him again over the summer.”

I haven't, but it doesn't tell you a fat lot that is of any use. It would be idiotic to go over a mile again. Not sure we have a great bunch of 3yo's, but he could end up taking on the three Guineas winners. No guarantee he would even finish fourth. He might think he gets the trip, but he certainly doesn't stay it strongly, so what's the point continuing when you aren't winning. There's a chance you end up forgetting how to win. On the subject of Egan, he isn't much cop, is he? Some of the jocks in reasonable jobs just confirms the lowly standard of the weighing room.

you end up forgetting how to win

That’s what I was saying to you this morning, whether they feel he’s ready to go 6f full pelt I’m not sure. I watched a clip after the Phoenix and Kia had said that they didn’t feel that Ascot would be his thing. He never said why. Took what I needed from that interview and I’ll be watching to see if he’s entered up tomorrow.

On Egan he’s not my fav and I’ve been critical of him before on here. For me he’s better over sprint distances, like Kirby was, how he won a Derby I don’t know! Grin

They seem to like their horses ridden forward, and it should be harder to mess up a point and fire ride. As for Ascot he was fifth in a Coventry, second in his group, so he hardly bombed out over course and distance.

Declared on the first day - 150/1. Idiotic. Bookmakers must have known they have a loon in charge.
Report Delashay June 14, 2026 11:59 AM BST
The owner wants to be part of that race (ego having a runner in it)? And or confidence in Wards horse?
Report differentdrum June 14, 2026 12:30 PM BST
Yes, the Ward horse is a certainty at 20/1. It's just another reason not to bother with ante-post. I made a sensible call, the owner has made a ridiculous one. You can't legislate for that, and shouldn't have to.
Report Delashay June 14, 2026 4:53 PM BST
They must see him a better fit for here. They look like they’ll be G1 hunting in France going by his entries.

They think it's a better fit to keep running in races he can't win? Really smart thinking. How many more times - it's a very stiff 6 at Ascot, so those entries equate to running in the Commonwealth Cup. As it is I managed to cash out most of my stake. How that has happened I don't know. I wasn't even going to bother to bother to look. Had it not drifted from 33/1-40/1 I would probably have got it all back. That's my interest in the horse done.
Report Delashay June 15, 2026 11:33 AM BST
They obviously have their targets, whilst he gets battered again and again they can pick an easier G1 abroad and the price will be decent. They obviously know he’s not up to one here.
Just need patience and to hope that he’s good enough on the day, that and the jock.

Not everything they do seems to make sense, the puzzle in how they get to a race is a part of it.
Report Delashay June 15, 2026 5:15 PM BST
Have you seen that he’s entered for the Jersey with Egan booked?!!?!
