Not really. Other jocks (and punters, judging by the price) were misled by DoL's recent record of being pulled up in his last few races. In addition to the factors Rico named, DoL was also top of RP's Topspeed speed figures. Nothing sinister imo.

Handicap mark of 114 is well within his capabilities anyone else comes out with that ^^^^ 10 minutes after it's won you'd be on here calling them a fookin aftertimer, sticking up a picture of a clown and saying thats them, and asking them various questions about their genitalia. |

The horse goes well fresh, lower weight, course winner, young kid given to much reign. No jockey wanted to be the one to bridge that gap, one of those odd races, had no bet so maybe easy for me to say.

blame when a race goes like that is on the one at the head of the peleton. in this case S Bowen
the others in behind are following him, they haven't got a clue whats going on up front. they're trusting him. so when they pull out to overtake S Bowen, and realise they're 30 lengths behind with 2 furlongs to go. they realise they shouldn't have been following S Bowen. |

have a look next time they do jockey cam at Ascot and see how much you can actually see when you're riding a race.

only the jockey in second place can judge what's going on, give your head a wobble. |

Sometimes you do wonder and question what is going through their heads while you are watching a race , I always felt the majority have a pack mentality

Seem it loads of times where the jockey at the head of tbe peleton has fkd it up royally and those in behind have paid the price. That was just another example although having watched it again I believe S Bowen did try to close up down the back but he was sitting on nothing.

I was actually there. I most certainly didn't back it,but I think Rico's comments are spot on. Some of the others were struggling quite a long way out and could not get near.
Judging by its record the winner is an obvious lay next time out. |

I was at Ponty and 2 fellas in the betting office there were shouting this horse like there was no tomoz!!!
Ignore its recent record and look at its overall profile and it was a great bet...but then it would never have been the price it was without the poor last few runs....such is the intellectual challenge of racing and why us long-termers love it so much!!! |
