Winner took a few strides to get going after he pulled it wide.  Once it did it was devastating. That won't be losing again this season.

I backed the winner purely because she was given an easy enough time of it at Newmarket. Wayne Lordan sounded like someone who couldn't believe his luck that he was on her as O'Brien had made it clear how much she had improved since Newmarket.

Report Delashay May 24, 2026 5:10 PM BST
As said I didn’t bet so no bitterness for anyone on the winner. My remark about aftertimers was tongue in cheek.

I’ll ask you all to consider this, was the race ran to suit the winner?

With the second and 3rd both making the running?

From the post :

Precise, twice a winner at the highest level last season, had to overcome adversity after stumbling from the stalls and suffering a slow start. In contrast, True Love was swiftly into stride, taking the box seat behind leader Abashiri.

The runners split into two distinct groups in the straight, with True Love looking in command along the far side rail, and Precise towards the rear of the group racing more towards the centre of the track.

Was there a quicker strip up the center?

After the first Derby Trial at Leopardstown AOB was keen to point out that Bonnard had raced inside on the slowest strip.

We all know that races can be run to suit to win or lose.
Report Delashay May 24, 2026 5:12 PM BST
The sectionals will show it, well done to those who landed it and didn’t follow Moore blind.
Report charbar67 May 24, 2026 5:20 PM BST
My question is, does Ryan Moore have any idea about the horses he is riding, jumped off True Love in the 1,000, then jumps off the horse he rode in that race, just gives the impression he’s a clueless clown
Report Delashay May 24, 2026 5:22 PM BST
He’s told what to ride, he’s not clueless as they listen to his feedback, he’s happy he’ll win other Group 1’s

I always felt that Murtagh went because he wasn’t willing to play this same game with Joey.
Report Delashay May 24, 2026 5:26 PM BST
Having a number one stable jockey is great for having one runner in the market at much shorter odds.

But in reality you see they like to keep all riders happy and at times dish them out winners throughout the season.

Back to the topic of “staying” we will see IF True Love truly stays a mile should she turn up at Ascot, because the mile there is the stiffest and takes most getting.

As their two colts haven’t set the world alight I’d not be surprised if she showed in the Commonwealth Cup (if it’s true what they are saying)
She’s a strapping filly and the colts would struggle to give her weight and as we saw with Venetian Sun. 33’s looks MASSIVE!

Plus the 6 as Ascot rides like 7f so it’d be right up her alley.

Yesterday I don’t believe that she was ridden to win for all the reasons that I posted earlier. The winner looked great but was also flattered on the eye slightly because the second and 3rd were treading water at the end.

That’s my opinion of which I’ve been accused of not having despite regularly giving it unlike many. If that makes me a know it all or trying to be clever, you’re wrong it’s only sharing what I see and I’m open to discussion and encourage others to do so without the jibes.

Delashy, have you considered that True Love was simply beaten by one that could turn out to be an exceptional 3 year old filly. Take Precise out of the field and she's a dual Guineas winner. The dam stayed (won over 9.5f) as her half-sister (won over 9f) and i fully expect her to be kept to a mile (even has an entry in the Pretty Polly over 10f).

You might be right Andrew she could at a mile, there’s not a lot of competition in that division, I was just putting forwards options should what the say be legit.

I’m sick of all their talk, yesterday the Post were updating every word of AOB about the Derby like tweets and he clearly enjoys the power that he has to move markets with his one liners.
Report brandyontherocks May 25, 2026 10:49 AM BST
I think True Love only just gets a mile.
Looking at her, 6f and 7f would see her to best effect.

I thought Diamond Necklace and Precise were the top two juvenile fillies from last season and that still looks the case. 10f will probably be the ideal distance for both however, so it will be interesting how they keep them apart.
Report Delashay May 25, 2026 11:06 AM BST
That chain of thought seems right, they know in our Guineas they meet lots who don’t stay, easy pickings for a class horse who’s built like a colt.

Andrew I don’t doubt that they’re all good.

Report Jack_Kray May 25, 2026 1:12 PM BST
Surely Precise goes for the Coronation now and not the Oaks? There's only a 12 day gap and she will be taking on stablemate Amelia Earhart - a big imposing galloping filly who will relish the 1m 4f, whereas Precise might not. Could see AE kicking for home 3 furlongs out and running them ragged, with Precise not landing a blow.

I don't see the point of those two taking each on in any case

Delashay,

I've been going to Longchamp since Detroit won the Arc in 1980 (i was young then Wink) and go several times a year, in fact i was there for the 1000 recently. My favourite course, and one i have been to the most in nay country, although i left England in 1984.  You don't need to be in France to know PMU odds, the odds recorded in the RP results are based on it; the SL is ISP. Aventure was the BSP favourite on here, i know because i backed her. Sunly was the originl fav with the books as i pointed out on the morning of the race on my lay thread.

I agree wwith you True Love and Precise are unlikely to meet, although it's not necessarily a given. In my opinion (for what it's worth) i think Diamond Necklace is the better miler of the 3 anyway, but how she runs over 2100 metres (circa 10.5f) at Chantilly next month is anyones guess, but i will be there cheering her.

Good luck
