chinese proverbs -

1. 事实胜于雄辩 (Facts beat eloquence)
2. 言既出,驷马难追 (A team of horses will struggle to chase down a spoken word)
3. 拒绝接受投注的博彩公司必须关闭270家门店。(A bookmaker who will not lay a bet must close 270 of his shops)

Clare has spoken about this in the past, iirc.

In particular the problem of collateral damage to ordinary punters in bookmakers' battle against the sharks.

Eg if (say) Barney goes for a coup on some asthmatic donkey with no form for five years and who dots up today, the rush to find and close down his putter-onners might easily snare some unconnected punters who liked the name or who once heard Willo chunter on about "back class" or whatever.

But yes, it was a missed opportunity.

Clare has the cheek to criticise. The bookies he works for are very much to blame too. The restriction and closure of accounts began way before AC was even contemplated. AC is a direct response to the ineffective, irresponsible and blatant neglect of bookies on the terms and condition of the Betting / Gaming Act.

It's sad the bookies seem to be getting their way once again. No doubt those at the horseracing papers will be celebrating, and probably toasting, if the Gambling Commission adopts a u-turn on AC.

I hope the Gambling Commission will introduce and enforce immediately an effective replacement of AC eg imposing a fine of 10% of the offending bookie's revenue for transgression of the Betting / Gaming Act.

Remember when, if applicable, you'd be out on a Friday night chasing skirt?
Do not go gentle into the nonsensePlain
