It seems that coke is everywhere in society now.
What is the issue with what a jockey does in their downtime if they aren't riding high ?
Except for the fact it's illegal is it any worse than a jockey drinking a glass of wine ?
Surely the way forward would be to treat it the same way as the police do and have a maximum level for safe driving/ riding ?

Drunk drivers should face a lifetime ban, riding horses under the influence knowing that punters are following with their hard earned should also face a lifetime ban…..

Before spouting and squawking trying to defend think of the innocent people wiped out by ignorant idiots boozing and driving….

There’s loads of them puffing ‘erb and driving these days.

I always thought that the punishments for finding class A in jocks was laughable, look at Detori and Fallon got the close season off as a ban then we’re back for new. A joke.

We’re lucky that we’re not tested as they are in the US because it’s everywhere as said.

Not so sure it’s that far from H though I guess you mean because an innocent toot is ok but the rock form is deadly so it’s how it’s taken.

You inject heroin into your system and (supposedly) it’s the best feeling you will ever have. They are forever chasing that. Most to the extent where’d they’d sell everything they’ve got for another hit. They’d then go on to robbing houses to fund it.
A line of coke is a line of coke. Pretty much the same every time, unless it’s been cut and cut.

As said above Ken you don’t cluck like that (being on the rocks is totally different and they chase that) but ask the bird from Eastenders who lost part of her nose if a little toot is ok?

Some people can’t stop at anything (just the one or a bit) , whether it’s drink or whatever, fair play to those who can.

Yes, I would suggest H is addictive, and alcohol can be for some.
Most drugs, including nicotine are habitual, as is overeating imo.

I worked with a plumber who’d chase it, by 4 every day he had to go and get his next. He’d do it in lofts, peoples garages on fire escapes. Same age but was known as the old man because of what it did.

It’s not know as chasing the dragon for nothing, smoking or injecting. Rack is the same you see it in the eyes. The soul vanishes.

Thankfully I can control my gambling habit! Laugh

Drink was my problem. I took loads of drugs recreationally but never got hooked on them like alcohol. If I had loads of money in my pocket it would be a bag of coke. If didn’t then it would be a bag of speed!

It’s done for many a man Ken and is the biggest killer without doubt.  My friend in Art college came from Sweden and he described buying alcohol as like going to a pharmacy there. Plus the price was so expensive.

So when he came here he went mad and on a field trip to Eastern Europe he went extra mad! You could buy a pint for 10p back then, lashed on a quid!

With the price rises in booze here I wonder if we’re following suit? Price it so it’s out of reach?

Ahh Billy nasty stuff! Grin

When i worked out of any oil refinery Kenbo they did random drug testing with instant dismissal for any negative results….

I remember one individual getting told getting out of his car the nurse was in doing drug and alcohol….he got back into his car…caught on camera and sacked….union told him he was on his own…..

No mercy !

It is endemic in Society.
It is also an appetite suppressant (Jockeys).
No amount of ranting on here from the failed Tanker Driver will make the slightest difference to the situation.

false comparison between drugs and drink

sharing a bottle of something good with friends is convivial, and fun and harmless. civilised folk the world over do it, and its part of family life in france, germany etc to have a glass with your kids, from 14 onwards

having a nice drink is not a 'high' like drugs are. its ususally a mildly pleasing sensation, although of course some get carried away. ive been carried away by medics a few times

sniffing rat poison off a kahzi seat that burns a hole in your bugle is squalid and the opposite of being social. gurning and boring everyone within earshot to distraction makes drug users tiresome. en masse its a shouting match

and ive tried the lot. acid was me fave, but no longer fashionable, despite being so cheap. crack was weird but i didnt then think i must do that as much as possible. i suspect junkies and alkies are mentally defective and seek to hide from their demons

Coke is quite common even in moderate social circles these days..needn't be an issue anymore than alcohol that would never be legal if 'new' in this era..
By:
brentford
When: 24 May 26 22:08
in terms of jockeys, it's potentially performance enhancing (as well as illegal) so inevitably if you test positive - you're in trouble..
By:
Busyfool
When: 24 May 26 22:26
dont know what a 'moderate' social circle is

alcohol is not a drug. its a by-product of something humans have enjoyed and refined to a pinnacle. never have we had as much choice and quality

i have known loadsa cokeheads but no longer. they dont survive long and can fro, they are so solipsistic. and they were boring before they had the gear. few learned interesting or amusing people would use it. it diminishes their appeal and undermines their credibility

cokeheads soon get frozen out of civilised circles, moderate or otherwise. likewise, weed smokers

dont know what a 'moderate' social circle is... I dare say you don't..

none the less it's commonly used without issue in circles that don't include the failed parts of society.. people that use it for a recreational high..

in terms of natural products...opium poppies are very natural and cocaine is derived from the cocoa plant..
