SHERGAR: THE RACEHORSE AND THE IRA will be featured on Channel 4 on Sat 30 May at 8pm, repeated on Mon 1 June at 10pm. Last year I was asked to return to Belfast to retrace my steps. This new documentary is a fascinating insight that shines new light on the heartless and senseless kidnapping of the most famous of Derby-winning horses. Tommo

They concluded that the IRA didn't realise that the horse was syndicated and would have required shareholders agreement to pay the £2M ransom.
In any event,payment would only have opened the floodgates for more kidnapping |
