My ante post bet was Pierre Bonnard

But I’ve just took 8s on ITEM

I was impressed, most of the others race fit, he quickens up, fair distance between the runner up and the rest of the field, he still looks green so surely there is more to come.

All the best

Just go to The Derby. Then The Eclipse if he does not stay. Nothing to lose. On the other hand if he goes to France he may encounter Con River. Anyway, I'd not lose any sleep on it. It's only a horserace afterall.

Frankel has already sired two St Leger winners.

I was at Bath when it won there last October, and watched the race side-on down at the half-furlong pole. I can't recall anything else ever striding out up that endless climb at Bath the way Item did that day, never mind a two-year-old. I'd already said to Plymouth Steve before the race, when we were watching the horses in the parade ring, "Who'd have thought we were going to see a Derby winner here today?"

Did I back it for the Derby? Of course I didn't. Made the mistake of looking at the form of the third and fourth, and thought, "That was a bad race. No wonder it stood out."

Still hope it wins the Derby though. I want the race to be won by something unbeaten and special.

Interesting observation screaming. They can't have thought Item was all that special to run it at Bath though. Great result for the yard after losing Gewan.

Stamina not an issue for me.
The quality of today's race is another matter
