I don't pretend to understand the details of the row between the BHA and racecourses but racing does not need yet another major upheaval at a time when it needs a united voice to confront the misguided policy of both Government and the Gambling Commisision. We need a unified approach or the industry is doomed to fail. We will be left with only Irish and French racing to watch. I suspect that a significant part of the House of Commons and the Gambling Commission would be quite happy to see Horse Racing consigned to history. Well meaning legislation usually has unintended consequences but in this case the consequence (an end to racing) is part of the plan.
20 or 30 years ago the boss of an international services company in the sport and events sphere told me that racing was impossible to deal with, "like rugby union used to be".
Racing is still impossible to deal with as none of its stakeholders will submit their own narrow, sectional interest to any common cause, and that is even if they admit there is a common interest.

Not a surprise Ascot has decamped. It's a matter of time more racecourses will follow suit very soon. The status quo, structure, stakeholder power and influence at the moment is bias, unfair and unworkable. It favours certain stakeholders not conducive for horseracing.
Also, the present BHA is not independent.

Look what happened to the BHA and horseracing with Mr Rust at the helm?
