He actually said that the owner's two jockeys had been in and both felt that the colt would be better over further, and that was the gist of the interview; and admittedly nothing to do with Charlie tbf, but the owner's other runner had been smashed in the betting too
Both the owner's jockeys have been in to ride him and felt he'll relish a mile and a half....He may shape today like he needs another 2f...We'll learn a little bit more today about how his season will shape up.
Well done Mr Contrary if you heard anything there that had you rushing to back him today just before the off.

since when does 'pretty positive' equate to 'rushing to back him today just before the off'
Trying again, it was pretty positive in the context of discussing the outsider of the field. Paraphrasing, he also said they like him a lot and you can ignore his last run. There's nothing to say he won't be even better over further, but quite obviously a 20s shot on bf has some perceived negatives, hence it is trading 20s.

It's non contrarian by the way. You are entitled to start a thread about anything you like. It would help if you only want posts that are confirming your opinion to include that in the OP.
Trainers are on a hiding to nothing being interviewed before a race. Like I said, if you fancied it, the interview wouldn't have put you off. I would have called it moderately optimistic, but today was not the most important day of its season.

Mr Contrary, that's not being "pretty positive" about a horse's chance, but you're perfectly welcome to have a different opinion.

I believe the sectional showed that it was a very quick early pace, and turned into a test of stamina. Not something that is ordinarily predictable for a 5 runner affair.

Just to clarify, I'm not being critical of anything Charlie Johnston said, I was just bemused by the choice of words by the presenter / pundit after the finish line, given the vibe from the interview imo was very much that the horse would be a different proposition when stepped up in trip.
