This has happened before at Beverley (and also at 7f, oddly enough).

Yes, quite right Ramruna.
But my post wasn't clear enough to make my point. Next Monday there are 4 scheduled 5f races. The two examples you have spotted were with divisions. I cannot recall a track ever scheduling 4 races over the same diatance before? |

If Ireland counts, then Gowran Park had five 7f races last Wednesday.
https://www.racingpost.com/results/2026-04-22/ If not, then Bath had four 5f races on 5th April. https://www.racingpost.com/results/2026-04-05 I've not checked all these but from this year (h/t Raceform Interactive):- 4 KEMPTON (A.W) 14/01/26 1m 4 SOUTHWELL (A.W) 17/01/26 1m 13y 4 BATH 05/04/26 5f 10y 4 GOWRAN PARK 09/04/26 1m 1f 130y 5 GOWRAN PARK 22/04/26 7f |

Looking at the 2025 list, it seems to be more common in Ireland than Britain.

The one at Southwell on 17/01/26 included a divided 7f classified stakes. But the rest are all legit.
Yes, more in Ireland than UK. I am still pretty disappointed in Beverley next week, though. Looking at the 5-day entries, at least two of the 5 furlong races could split because of safety limits. Should that happen, 6 x 5f races on one card would surely be a record!! Doubt if it will happen though because going is forecast to be good to firm, so race numbers will shrink. |

17/1 Southwell would be five 1m races including both divisions of the classified stakes race but is still four without.

Undivided, the record holder in the past decade is Clonmel on 18/4/19 with six. If we do count both divisions of divided races:-
6 SALISBURY 12/10/15 6f 212y 6 KILLARNEY 17/05/16 1m 40y 6 BELLEWSTOWN 01/07/16 7f 190y 6 SALISBURY 10/10/16 6f 212y 6 CORK 15/10/16 1m 100y 6 KILLARNEY 22/08/18 1m 20y 6 CLONMEL 18/04/19 1m 1f 162y 6 KILLARNEY 24/08/19 1m 50y 6 NEWMARKET 04/06/20 6f 6 GOWRAN PARK 11/06/20 7f 6 GOWRAN PARK 17/06/20 1m 1f 100y 6 KILLARNEY 21/08/20 1m 50y 6 KILLARNEY 11/05/21 1m 31y 6 KILLARNEY 14/07/21 1m 40y 6 KILLARNEY 19/07/23 1m 40y |

Due to go on Monday depends on the weather, I dont mind the 5f there at least you’ll get a idea of where the draw might be working, many years ago 30 ? The bookies were up in arms as the low numbers were cleaning up especially stalls 1-2, trainers were withdrawning there outside drawn horses as it was pointless turning up, the racecourse the announced they were going to water the track to even up the draw, and from that day that’s what has happened and still does today, if not you’d get draws winning from 1-2 and punters winning, that’s not allowed so looking forward to cracking the draw Monday and be rewarded with 7-50 pints and house champagne more expensive then York and crap overpriced food, enjoy

The maiden did divide so 5 5furlong races to start,
living 1 mile from the track i was planning to go today, but looks too difficult and staying home. |

It's a terrible shame. As Beverley races is a great day out

Hope you did a Julian Wilson on Sat. Put on your betting boots and boom its 'Billy the Kid'. You did fancy him. Paul Midgley has 2 in that 4.15pm sprint at Bev. Dangerous in these type of races always and has won this race a few times.

I went today and, as stated above, 5 x 5 furlong races. That was a bit dull but at least a new coffee shop has appeared...
I had a good day and so three of the 5f races did me good. Perhaps I was sounding Beverley's death knell a little early!! |

I was there today, huge crowd, results not good, first time i've been, super track for viewing. cheers.

the bairn,
Interesting that you saw that as a huge crowd. It was busy, certainly in the middle family section, but not like it was as little as 6 years ago. On Bank Holidays and Saturdays not that long ago, it was uncomfortable with lots of aimless drinking and people sprawled on the steps of the stands. Still gets like that a couple of Saturdays each year even now, but not like it used to be thank goodness! Glad you liked it there and you can probably now see my point over so many 5 furlong races. The views on the round course are very good but not so much for the 5 furlong races. Yet, on a busy day like yuesterday we had 5 x 5 furlong races. I do not understand what the track was thinking over that. |

The Knight. yes first time there, too many unknowns in the first couple of races, and it was a difficult card to weigh up, I just took it in on my way back from Newmarket and was surprised by how steep it was from the 5 furlong start and it was pretty busy though, definitely a lovely track. cheers.
