- a hair dryer at a Paris airport broke Polymarket weather markets & made someone $34,000 richer

- polymarket was settling Paris temperature bets on a single Météo France sensor sitting near the Charles de Gaulle runway perimeter - basically unguarded

- the guy bought the long-shot outcome (like "22°C" when everyone expected 18°C) for pennies, since nobody thought it'd hit

- then he walked up to the probe and briefly heated the air around it with a portable heat source, spiking the reading just long enough to register as the daily max

- temperature snapped back to normal in minutes, the market resolved in his favor, and he cashed out - twice, on April 6 and April 15, before Météo France caught on and filed charges

Shame the French weren't so clever in the 2 world wars then we wouldn't have had to save them twice!

I'm sure those who sacrificed their lives are looking down on the UK today & wondering why they bothered when invaders can just land on the South Coast unchallenged.

Nr Academy- I'm benefiting from age, experience, a top quality edumacation, a life lived in wonderful times of the past & finally benefiting from not being around much longer to see the demise of Grate (sic) Britain. And you????

How lucky we were to be born and see the peak of civilisation, Dr Slicer.
It's regressing rather quickly, but we've had the best of it.

Definitely Mr Saddo. I see from your posts that we agree on most things. I hope you're prospering. These young whippersnappers should be careful what they wish for. They might just get it. And then it'll be too late!

My daughter's generation deserve everything they get for their stupidity and apathy.
I have made arrangements for my grandchildren, it's not their doing.

I attended the 'World coal carrying championship' recently, Dr.
Videos are online, a gathering still as English as it gets.
One chap follows each of the races (carrying 50kg) and walks back (carrying 50kg) for the next.
He does it for charity, unbelievable endurance. I gave him a score.

I mean good god. This coming from the generation given everything on a plate - schools, transport, education system (free universities) welfare state (with a ridiculously generous pensions system) Council housing , North Sea Oil..........

And you spunked it up the wall you lazy money grabbing feckers. And as this thread testifies to (and no doubt more will follow!) you absolve yourself of all responsilibilty for the mess you created!

Just my tuppence worth..........

And that's what your opinion is worth Mr Spyker, tuppence. You will never know. And if I explained it you wouldn't understand. So you just go on enjoying the moral cesspit the country has become & the degenerate liberal democracy that the media, recent politicians and the generations that came after us have created. We'll never agree, so no real point in further discussion. As my time is running out, it's very valuable so I won't waste it!

Spyker has no problem with new arrivees being given everything on a plate, very odd.

First of all sadman please explain now you extrapolate my views on immigration from my 23/april post? For what it's worth, from a purely practical and demographic view, your gens prejudice and reluctance to have their arses wiped by brown people is going to come back and really bite you on the arse!!! You haven't equipped your kids anywhere near well enough to want to do it by the sounds of it.
History old girls - just look at the events and ignore the political spin on events your generation falls so easily for . Go on explain how you spent the proceeds of north sea oil, the oil crisis in 70s, in relation to whats happening now and that your gen stands in the way of progress by refusing to use renewables even though it is clearly the answer to energy dependency on a certain region and religion? I have said this for years on here and been ridiculed, I'm not at all  surprised it's come  to pass.
Homelessness increases amongst the  working class (in fact all demographs including your gen!)) is nowt to do with you as well? Council house sales = the biggest mistake and con of the C20th. The funniest thing is that you lot genuinely think your houses (ex council or not) are going to sell for 100's of thousands as some sort of legacy. Do a little digging and please explain who is going to buy these houses at todays prices?

I don't expect any answers soon......
