Jonbon did not run in The Champion Chase (2m) as 2m because Hendo reckoned 2m may be too short for the ageing horse. Hendo ran Jonbon in The Ryanair (2m 4f) instead. Post this Hendo publicly announced the idea of running Jonbon in The Bowl (3m) at Aintree; Jonbon skipped Aintree instead.
Now, Jonbon is running in The Celebration Chase over 2m at Sandown this Saturday on possibly good ground. Is this the behaviour of a top trainer ie switching from 2m -> 2m 4f; then a possible 3m, and now back down to 2m - the horse's original starting point?
The above shows a distinct disdain to punters and the horse's supporters, in my opinion.
I suppose Aintree probably came a bit too quick after Cheltenham (but he should have just said that instead of keeping people guessing but maybe it was JP who decided in the end) and theres no other suitable end of season target apart from Punchestown (2m) and that looks a harder race to win.

“Punters are in truth and quite rightly irrelevant.”
That’s like saying football supporters and fans mean nothing. Not your best line H.
Imagine that no one turns up at Ascot, The Derby, Champions Day and likewise to their local clubs out of the Premier league.

He’s done all that simply to put people away Impossible, you had the saga with Fact TO File, it’s akin to what AOB has done this spring with his Guineas runners.

Just retire Hendo. Your stock is depleting in value progressively eg Altior running in that 2m 5f (up-in-trip) race at Ascot. That really "destroyed" the horse. The horse had never run over this distance ever.
Another classic example is Hendo would not run Constitution Hill in Ireland when the horse was at his prime and unbeatable. But, Hendo sent him to Ireland post falling at Cheltenham and giving a "ballooning" jumping display in races prior. Hendo has lost the plot.
I hope Hendo would retire or shut his gob, and not bat for the bookies repeatedly.

After eulogising for the past week right up to just two days ago I've just switched on the tv and heard Jonbon has done a runner. The antepost punters copped it again.
Well done Hendo!
