If a race is called The Scottish Champion hurdle it shouldn't be a handicap that is the point, to be a champion you should win off level weights with your competitors.

I agree with Stewarts , nobody remembers the winners of the Welsh and Scottish Champion Hurdles , unlike yesteryear, when the greats like Birds Nest , Sea Pigeon , Night Nurse used to take each other on !

The 1978 Scottish champion hurdle was a good one.Golden Cygnet 11.13 the supreme winner 5lbs more then Night Nurse and 1lb less then Sea Pigeon.

That was a sad race, incredible quality of hurdlers but had  the fall that killed Golden Cygnet.
