The banned jockey is Ireland-based Patrick O'Brien, not GB-based Paul O'Brien.

FOYLES, absolutely, if you cheat and get DQd you won't get rides, simple. If you engage a whip happy jockey , you get what you deserve.

I was a beneficiary of this which is quite ironic as I have spent most of my racing life arguing to get rid of the whip. That's the only way to put an end to this counting nonsense. I wouldn't feel that disappointed about the second given he has 'won' because his jock was two over the limit as opposed to four. Nothing to be pleased about there. Feel sorry for Laafi, I doubt there is a gamer horse in training. O'Brien is right at the top of claiming jocks, and hopefully, he learns from this ban.

It is becoming farcical isn't it, 5 jockeys in all getting whip bans at Aintree, with 3 others on winning rides, Wellington Arch, Mr Hope St and Koctail Divin. 2 other bans for riding 2nds, Melon and Iroko in the GN.
  How jockeys are expected to count how many times they use the whip coming to the end of a prestigous race for a large amount of prize money with the adrenalin flowing is beyond me.
  Perhaps it's time to either ban whips altogether or to race with whips being carried but not used as in some conditional races.

1 over, 2 over, 3 over etc, all nonsense. Jockeys can't count, stewards can't count. Keep it simple , 5 the max , go over = DQ and 28-day ban. As for no contact, if arm goes up and down it counts.

Stifle still gets a good thrashing on a daily basis tbh…..can they get banned for hitting the soft part ?

Keep it simple = no strikes. Why do you want to see animals hit at all when you will still get a result?
