Considering Talk Of New York is 6/1 2nd Fav for the 2000 guineas, then this should be a penalty kick but weak in the market makes me think otherwise. So I am laying for today and for May 2nd. 1.81 & 9.0. Only one favourite has won this race in the last 10 years, mostly the favourite comes 2nd.

Lost Signal who has it all to do on known form is the only horse coming into the race with out a run this season and for the last 5 years the race has been won by a seasonal debutant. Hannon's record in the race is equal to Charlie's, so at 16/1 offers some value to concede the 3lbs.

My comment on the race, the bookies are all over Talk Of New York for the win and is not weak in the market.
The only negative is the stable mate,Maximising, has progress form and the old saying the smaller the field the bigger the upset.

Would hope for a good showing, getting the horse to settle looks to be key judging by his antics in Meydan.
Intresting to see if the horse is keen whether Buick actually goes on himself.
Report Delashay April 14, 2026 11:28 AM BST
Good luck with him, despite the past records he really should be winning getting 3lb.

Maximized could be a commonwealth cup horse or go for the 7f Jeresy Ascot, there’s enough 7f races at Meydan during the Carnival for him to have run in but he was kept a 6f.
His last run at Newmarket wasn’t great so I’d be disappointed if he could beat his stable mate here and is surely there to set the pace and try help Talk Of relax and settle.

I watched back his run in Dubai and he was so fresh that he did well to finish off the race having pulled for a long way.

Title Role who beat him that day has been pleasing the Crisfords, they’ve said that he keeps stepping forwards with every run, that Moore is booked for him in the Greenham on Saturday is telling isn’t it?

What price he is Talk bolts in today?

He’s come in from 6/1 from 9/2 for that   and Zaverteri is making his seasonal debut and just seen the Jock saying that the ground was too quick for him in the Dewhurst. He do has been worrying about the likely quick ground for CH.

Good luck with your picks.

Thanks for the input guys. LS has been backed from 16/1 into 11/1 so perhaps others also saw the value. I know you can't eat value but still!

Trusty - nice race appraisal and subsequent forumite comments, what this forum should be all about, but, alas too rare.

Got to disagree though with your Lay suggestion about Talk Of New York. I was totally blown away with his scintillating debut win and he immediately went to top of my tracker. Maybe the Meydan run can be put down to the tension generated by Trump's chest-beating antics upsetting connections.

I'll be lumping on today but keeping my powder dry for the Guineas. Good luck all.

The money seems to have gradually come for ToNY, but not in a convincing way. Take the hint? Charlie Appleby / William Buick won the 1st on what was a heavily backed fav.

Richie's Rocket a beaten fav in a listed race Lingfield end of Feb, maybe Ralph Beckett has him ready for today?
Report Angela Rebecchi April 14, 2026 2:32 PM BST
ToNY hacked up. Your selection fought well in 2nd. Richie's Rocket ran abysmally, poor results last two races given the hype around it.
Report Trusty April 14, 2026 2:33 PM BST
Not the guineas winner imo.
Report Delashay April 14, 2026 2:35 PM BST
Lovely course experience for him there and done what they hoped for, I did see him mid step just before 4 out so a guineas run at pace might catch him out perhaps, besides that he handled the dip well.
Report Mat22 April 14, 2026 2:37 PM BST
WD ihal, Bow Echo still the correct jolly for the 2000G but talk of new York was very good today not pulling like stink. will be a big danger on May the 2nd as it will improve plenty. if you lumped on today never a moments worry. Cool

Time to Turn runs for Godolphin in the Greenham (both Talk & Mximised were entered there)

He has similar lines of form with the later through Northern Champion but hasn’t run, whereas Title Role is race fit.

All morning Kings Trail has been blue so who knows what he’s been doing on the gallops? He’s now as low as 8/1 for the 2000.
Report Delashay April 14, 2026 2:43 PM BST
Were you happy with that Glas?

Ihal did the run change your mind going forwards? If not have you another fancy?
Report Storm Alert April 14, 2026 2:44 PM BST
Both Appleby horses ran well. ToNY still 6/1 for guineas.
Report GLASGOWCALLING April 14, 2026 2:50 PM BST
Were you happy with that Glas?

Yes happy all round really, horse never seemed to pull at all, done everything right in a fair time.

Would agree Bow Echo should still be worthy favourite especially what the trainer said after his racecourse gallop.

Boughey said: “We asked Bow Echo to do what he did here last year going into the Royal Lodge and Billy was delighted. We haven’t had a horse with a turn of foot like he has. He’s had a spin around Kempton and has been ready for a few weeks now, which has afforded us the luxury of being able to fill him up and let him mature.

“He’s a horse with a big year ahead of him and he probably didn’t need to come here today but we wanted to tick all the boxes to make sure he was in A1 condition. He’s a very well-balanced horse and on the data that we’ve got his best ever piece of work was here before the Royal Lodge and I’d be amazed if it wasn’t better this time.
Report Delashay April 14, 2026 2:55 PM BST
Cheers Glas, I think he’s the right fav too but a month ago he was 8/1 and it was that for the field.

He’ll face something different to Humidity, something with more speed but he’s shown that he handles the track. He wasn’t a big horse so should be easier to get fit without a prep run.
Report Delashay April 14, 2026 2:56 PM BST
Trusty you have another fancy for the race?
Report Trusty April 14, 2026 3:03 PM BST
I prefer Avicenna of the Godolphin entries. I know he only won his last race by the minimum but sure to be suited by the step up to 1 mile and should be some decent improvement from 2 to 3. Currently 33/1 but I have no inside info whatsoever and do not know if he will even run.
Report Delashay April 14, 2026 3:13 PM BST
Cheers Trusty.

As you most likely know, he’s in the Craven on Thursday & yes he stayed on well in that race where he beat Hank, he’s been cut all morning too and is now as low as 20’s.

Buick is on Hidden Force in the same race.

Can’t recall the last time AOB had a runner in the Craven? Hawk Mountain with Moore booked, it’s going to be very informative.

DELA, have a look at the placed and 4th horses behind Bow Echo in all his races to date, 90% gone on to win good races in their own right.
Report Delashay April 14, 2026 3:52 PM BST
Thanks Glas, I’ve seen and am judging him on the form through that horse to a degree, but in no way knocking him as he’s a horse that I like.
8/1 was more than fair about him.

If you look back at Humidity he beat Title Role 1L who’s been mentioned here and of course gives us a line to Talk Of.

My gut tells me that there’s one waiting to beat him and with so many lines Appleby has a nap hand it seems.

I wondered why his others were cut today and have just seen that they’ve galloped at Newmarket this morning.

Kings Trail looks a proper muscle bound menace in the photo and I have to say looks fantastic he’s also older than Talk of and Avicenna (both April foals) and it shows in that photo.

Look back the 3rd that day was Action a May foal I think Bow Echo was ready made 2 year old and memory says that many asked would he progress from 2 to 3 because of his smaller stature.

Before that and the beating of Humidity at Sandown in the Solario I recall the forum all saying no stars there.

Pacific Avenue was beaten there at Sandown and by Bow Echo, Applyby has better.

Vert strange that the Godolphin second string was backed yet ran, to my eyes anyway, as a pacemaker for the winner. Doyle was looking around for Buick most of the race and even moved to his right to leave a gap for the winner to come through.
Report Delashay April 14, 2026 3:58 PM BST
Was he backed? Nick Luck said before the off he was there to lead which I’d said earlier this morning.

5s into 4s. Doyle rode hard once the winner had gone away. Probably thought before the race they'd get the 1-2.
Report Delashay April 14, 2026 4:03 PM BST
I don’t trust horses are being backed because prices are cut.

Going back to the Solario Oceans Four, he went onto beat Elastic in France, that’s no world beater so the consensus of the forum at the time seems right.

The Craven is going to be enlightening, in the post race report he’s said the Distant Storm is going, but he’s not the one for me.

One has been forgotten and I’m waiting on news of him.

When I saw Publish entered for the Dante it made me think was he really a true Guineas horse? So I wasn’t surprised by the setback. It made me think that Bow Echo hs been beating slower horses.

Some interesting comments here about the hood and his Dubai trip:

"He did exactly what we wanted," Buick said. "It was a race where we could learn a bit and he could learn a bit. Dubai was very messy for him, so he's obviously a bit more experienced now and he's a lovely horse for the future.
"He had an awkward draw that night [in Dubai] and it was a very competitive race, and he just lacked that match practice, fitness and experience. He still ran a good race, no one was disheartened by his performance there, but he's a big horse that operates at a high tempo, so the style of training probably suits him better over here. I think in time he'll probably get rid of the hood, but it'll depend where he goes next."

“The hood we have noticed has made a big difference at home, if anything a bit too much, but I didn’t want to be too confident today by taking the hood off. I was happy to leave the hood on, and if it meant that we got beat because we were too settled, then so be it. He is a horse that next time I will take the hood off.

“We had a bit of a comeback trail after having the wind taking out of our sails in Dubai, but Dubai didn’t work from the moment he got off the plane until the moment we got him back onto it. He was under trained and too fresh, so there were plenty of excuses on the night, but full credit to the horse that beat us.
“I was coming here today just thinking about getting this horse in the rebuilding process, but what we have seen there today I liked. The way he travelled, and the way he handled the dip, people might have expected to see that acceleration, but this was seven furlongs with a hood on.

Sounds like a secret weapon! to liven him up, like pulling the ear plugs from a horse in front of the cheering crowd, À la Peslier on Westerner! Grin
