Perhaps JP didn't want to someone to ride loads of mediocre winners, and who is essentially a passenger at the top table? I suppose Bowen's idiot tactics might have been useful to shave a few pounds off, but he probably has plenty of jocks capable of doing that.
Is it possible to find Cobden's stats for this season pre- the JP appointment, and post?
