It's a difficult watch which is why the NH game will be gone at some point but not going to happen anytime soon.
They are run for our entertainment no doubt, but it also keeps people in jobs and generates money for a government. Game is dying on its 4rse in any case. Tiktokers and yootubers too busy to take up the game like previous generations. You can always walk away, you have agency. |

Sickened by all fatalities leif but Friday was bad, looking at all angles he must have felt something wasn’t right, the commentator spotted the problem from high in the stands…..
Billionaire owner wouldn’t have flinched if he pulled the horse up……nor would the punter once they realised the problem. |

Did you see the first race at Chepstow yesterday? Why aren't you as 'sickened' by that? Oh because the horse came out ok despite it being v similar.
Horses obv can indicate they are in pain. Have you heard of that gk who played with a broken neck despite being able to scream? Your ignorance on pretty much everything is enlightening in a way. |

Harsh return tbh….
I did see the fall at Chepstow along with countless over past decades…..but there’s always one that sticks out and that was on Friday…. |

What is so blantantly overlooked by those bemoaning injuries and deaths to racehorses is the following...and read it properly before you answer (for anyone who wnats to disagree!).
OK, it is terribly sad when a horses dies as a result of racing. BUT, accidents happen to non-domestic animals (and even to a few of them) all the time. Wild horses running for free will injure themselves from time to time and they will probably not be attended to almost immediatly like a stricken racehorse is, porbably never at all, and so some of them will die drawn-out and protracted deaths. Sheep, cows, goats etc on farms suffer injuies - being kicked by another member of the herd is not uncommon and they will be sometimes put down as a result. I would argue that the percentage of racehorses killed comapred to the number in training is no greater than the percentage of non domestic animals preamturely killed as a result of accidents as a whole. Because racing is so high profile it looks bad when a horse suffers a bad end but unless we wrap all animals up in cotton wool then there will be deaths and accidents with all of them. To end, also consiuder this: Sometimes when lions or tigers - in a pack or on their own - bring down, say, a gazelle one of the predators is kicked in the face by the hunted animal. This can result in the lion or tiger suffering in the wild for a long time before possibly dying from its injury. So, should we train wild animanls to be vegatarians?!! Preamture death by accident among animals, be it in the wild or if they are being put to use by humans, is inevitbable. Providing it is not too many and all resonable steps are taken to keep animals safe, we need to accept this. Hence, I do wish people would stop their stupid whining and 'touchy feely' behaviour nowadays. Deaths as I have described are sad but they are part of life!! |

They aren’t though and that is the point. Himefry McCains newphew was punished for not pulling a tired horse up, you see that all the time. Only Townend knows if those horses that fell at Aintree were tired, also only he knows if you heard a crack. I’ve played football and herd legs crack when broken When the former Chelsea centre half spaghetti hair Ruiz?¿ clashed heads with that guy who still wears the protective headband when playing for Arsenal during covid and no fans, the commentators said you could hear his skull crack, sickening they said it was. When I’ve had my back done in a Thai massage it’s cracks, so what’s the chances there wasn’t one at Aintree? |
