A race like this is supposed to be competitive. The English version is no longer either. One of the key conditions has changed eg no more running in a qualifying race prior is necessary. Today the Grand National is merely a handicap for the above average or higher-rated horses. As such, the fun and result unpredictability have very much reduced.
