We have had this discussion before. There's no logic in riding like he does. There are only two jocks who do it on a regular basis, Bowen and Skelton. Are the rest complete muppets? When do you see a Willie Mullins horse out the back, or indeed any of the leading Irish trainers? It's riding for luck. You need the opposition to go too quick. They are dictating to you. The one's he wins from out the back who's to say they wouldn't win off the front end, and maybe win more easily.

Hardly riding for luck more judging the pace of the race over the trip in the conditions, the reason Bowen and Skeleton do it more than others is because they are 2 of the top 3 we have and can, Cobden is the other.

Listening to people like R Walsh he always says in Britain they go too fast from the beginning of the race (as a generalisation).

Cheltenham stats just reflects the p1ss poor stats for UK trained winners, and only way to fix that would be retained at nickys but maybe that boat has sailed as I don't think Ricky will be doing much if anything in 10 years anyway, lack of owners with deep pockets backing uk trainers is the issue.

Cheltenham stats confirm that he has made no impact. If he was that good people would be bending over to offer him spares. He may as well be riding at the gaff tracks - where his tactics might work a bit better - like Hughes did. Murphy keeping pace with him. Another massive under achiever.
