What event or incident occurred on this date?  It's a human interest story which is sport-related.

The Aberfan disaster was in October 1966.  Terrible, heartbreaking tragedy.  I've been to the cemetery.

Slightly connected, but I read about another 60s date.

The day of the photoshoot of The Beatles crossing Abbey Road..... at the same time, the Manson Family were planning the murders of some Hollywood elite,
which they carried out, later that same day, at Sharon Tate's house.

Helter Skelter

(Didn't know the Pickles trophy date, though)

Early Doors was criminally under rated, light years ahead of most comedies made since.

The dodgy coppers, Phil and Nige, absolute classic characters.
Crime can't crack itself !
Pair of Clints Laugh

Loved it when they were bemoaning the fact that you couldn't call a bug doing the rounds "chinese flu" as it was deemed racist - this was nearly 20 years before covid !
