Traders bet hundreds of millions of dollars on oil contracts just minutes before US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the US would postpone strikes against Iranian energy infrastructure.
Market data reviewed by the BBC shows the volume of trade spiked around fifteen minutes before a social media post by the president announcing the move.
The price of oil fell sharply after the announcement, dropping 14% in a matter of minutes. Traders who bet on the unexpected move would have made money.
Some market analysts say the unusual activity opens up the possibility that the bets may have been placed with prior knowledge of the decision.
An inside job, surely. Easy money if one has connection in the white House. Let's hope the "informed" who profited would be brought to account before Taco man is out of office.
Taco man cannot even win the integrity and credibility prize against the heinous regime in Iran. Taco man also blinked 1st; his ego has suffered an irreparable damage.
There's karma after all even where Iran is concerned.

Quite obviously there will have been a spike in volumes around the oil commodities/futures, and quite obviously whales will have been betting on the outcome of the 'deadline'.
Maybe it was leaked, however a tad more proof is required then 'orange man bad', I suspect.

What's the theory ? ...Trump and his pals are ripping off city types (who everybody seems to hate anyway) and there's faux outrage. Do you think the 'city types', who have all off the account details ,are just going to accept having their pants pulled down by 'insiders' ? The profits then need moving onto the actual insiders and like all conspiracy theories there are plenty involved and a full audit trail but nobody ever says anything and no hard evidence can be produced - but it's definitely going on - repeatedly.
