This is supposed to be amateur sport. That Fakenham jockey, Mr Charlie Marshall was prepared to risk killing his horse, Go On Chez, to win that race, absolutely disgusting behaviour. He should get a year long ban minimum. He literallly forced the exhausted, legless horse right through the final fence. The owner, Mrs Christine Osbourne must be really upset and angry over this.
Why cant such a race be immediately awarded to the one remaining horse, without further jumping required. This has left a sour taste in my mouth on the biggest day in jump racing.

I expect in the spur of the moment he thought he was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. But a crazy decision to risk all travelling at barely a walk.

An enquiry was held to consider whether Mr Charlie Marshall, the rider of the winner GO ON CHEZ had continued in the race when the horse appeared to have no more to give after barely being able to negotiate the final fence. The rider and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed, and recordings of the incident were viewed. Mr Charlie Marshall was suspended for 12 days on dates to be notified to him by the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority. |
