Report sageform March 12, 2026 3:41 PM GMT
Every owner pays the same entry fee. Some horses prefer good ground, some soft and a few heavy but nature decides which ones get their wish, not big players leaning on the CoC. If they had left Fact To File in tomorrow they might have had the going they want.

I think that's absolutely despicable from mcmANUS and I have had zero ante-post interest in Fact To File or the Ryanair.

I cannot recall a horse being withdrawn due to GOOD ground - can anyone else?
We haven't seen fast ground since the late 80s when Rare Holiday won the Triumph.

He said guardedly on Tuesday to Matt Chapman that a lot could happen between now and Thursday when asked about Jonbon's
possible participation - he KNEW then what he was planning!Angry

I read on Twátter that mcmANUS said to McCoy that he loves Jonbon and would be gutted to get chinned by his own horse.

Disgusting from that **** - absolute contempt for punters and that's precisely why I haven't indulged in AP markets for 20+ years.

He’s been winning egg and spoon races over here, that was until Mullins brought over something to challenge him before Cheltenham where he’s shown his true level of form.

The 2 mile chaser division is weak so his record reads well beating inferior opposition, but he’s always found out at the top level.

That race yesterday was ruined by their antics, agree with everyone tell ‘em to take their flags with ‘em, sing when they’re winning merchants! Laugh
Report JohanntheGoatHurdler March 13, 2026 9:16 AM GMT
Jonbon is an admirably consistent horse who has become very popular with the public. No-one is criticising the horse, but rather the behaviour of connections yesterday.
They were desperate to get a Festival win for him (despite the ratings clearly showing that he runs his worst races there and the fact he'd already had 2 hard races this season), so they manipulated the race to try and achieve this.
It backfired and I am glad it did. Connections have shown their true colours with their childish and petulant behaviour.
Jonbon has been well placed to win some weak Graded races (despite spending most of his career running over the wrong trip.)
If you look at the horses he has beaten (Pic d'Orhy, Thistle Ask, Protektorat, Energumene, Quilixios, Boothill, El Fabiolo, Conflated), combined with the fact that he has always fallen short at the sport's flagship meeting, you'd struggle to put him in the same echelon as the greats (Sprinter Sacre, Moscow Flyer, Master Minded, Flying Bolt, Dessie).

Jonbon was well backed prior, and into fav on the day of the day. Imagine one with inside info a couple of days prior the race given Jonbon would be a runner regardless. One could lay off and into a big "grin" regardless of the result and Jonbon's adversity to Cheltenham.

I'd not run Jonbon yesterday. He'd a hard race at Ascot and his adversity to Cheltenham. I liken his participation to Constitution Hill running at Punchestown post his fall in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham earlier. It was an absolute no-go for me.
