Good read Simon.
G.W. having a pop at your blogs seems a bit unnecessary, to me anyway.

Simon why did Big Gazza give you a Hard Time about your Betting Blogs ?
Report know all March 12, 2026 9:57 AM GMT
Take no notice of them, star sports takes big bets on course and you need to highlight that as you do, as you pointed out that’s what punters want to read about, carry on

There's the worry that the Gambling Commission will see all these four-figure and five-figure bets flying around and use them as an excuse to impose affordability checks on every racecourse bookmaker.

Screaming

That will never happen as just a small understanding of Simon's reports show a lot of the four and five figure bets are and always been 'laid off' amongst fellow bookmakers.

Also some that look to have stood very large bets put some back or all back 'on the machine'.

Imagine Jerry from Kalooki Racing wishing to lay off a few grand with the Star pitches would he have checked if Star could afford to pay him if his laid off bet won.

Would Mr Bloom or J.P. ever need to check whether any on course layer had the ability to pay them if they had a winning bet?

Star do not Hedge,Kenneth.

irons

from yesterdays report Simon stated star lost £5.5 k to an Irish bookmaker hedging he also reports they stood a 'trade bet' of £2k on Katerira costing them £15k.

He also reports other hedge money on Majborough reaching over £20k.

So while they may not hedge off bets laid with them they certainly are involved in the hedging business on racecourses according to Mr Nott.

They take bets and keep them. That is not hedging

Kenneth, the people at the Gambling Commission would not understand a word of what you're saying, and nor would they want to. Their mission is to regulate, control and administrate, regardless of whether that is necessary or justified. If they didn't, they would not have a job.

And behind all that is a conviction that they know best, always. And that means suffocating the business of gambling for our own good.
