In George St Hove Sussex there used to be 4 betting shops all within a few meters of each other.
Hills gave up a few years ago now Star has made an application to the council to be granted a betting licence for the shop currently operating as a P Power shop
All seems a bit strange with a much larger company deciding to close down and selling the lease to a much smaller bookmaker.

St*r sp0rts opened up a shop in my town, when billies closed...only competition was the baldy shop but they only lasted 18 months ...Baldy BOG and other boosts too much for them...only got the baldy one now

Is Beaneys the Bookmaker still around the corner in Church Road?
That used to be my favourite shop when I last lived in Brighton, back in the early 90s. Incredibly basic facilities, but they offered a price for every horse in every race if you asked at the counter. They had a shop in Kemp Town too.

I used to use the Woodingdeen shop this was before b/fair and local trainer when he was based by the 5 furlong pole at Brighton Gary Moore used to come in on occasions to watch his horse's race.
Beaney himself used to operate from an office at the back of his shop by Hikers Rest pub near Mouslescomb he could have been called Mystic Meg as when the internet was in its infancy he thought it would be the end of cash and betting shops and he sold all of his to Corals
