Race 1 - 1:20pm
THE SKY BET SUPREME NOVICES' HURDLE RACE (CLASS 1) (Grade 1) (GBB RACE)

Permission was given for EACHTOTHEIROWN (IRE) and MYDADDYPADDY (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.

An enquiry was held to consider interference after jumping the final hurdle, involving the winner, OLD PARK STAR (IRE), ridden by Nico de Boinville, MYDADDYPADDY (IRE), placed third, ridden by Harry Skelton, and SOBER GLORY (IRE), placed second, ridden by Ben Jones. The interference was found to be accidental as OLD PARK STAR (IRE) moved sharply left-handed away from the whip, before being quickly corrected, bumping and taking MYDADDYPADDY (IRE) off its intended line towards SOBER GLORY (IRE), which independently made contact with the inside rail, before shifting back slightly right-handed, bumping MYDADDYPADDY (IRE) who became unbalanced as a result.

So are they saying that interference only counts if it was on purpose?
Report Rico-Dangleflaps March 10, 2026 9:13 PM GMT

As I stated on the other thread, the stewarding was corrupt, they didn't want the hassle of the response too changing the result, bearing in mind who trained the winner and the response of racegoers who had backed the favourite and might have caused an ugly scene if the winner had been disqualified.

Skelton should have objected but felt that it might have been seen as sour grapes.

it was 1000 to be disq but not the point..if they held an inquiry why wasnt it announced.

Would never have got changed under any circumstances in the UK for that amount of interference, due to the winning distance. Interference was minimal. Winner was also going away at the line.

The Skelton horse lost all momentum though, the winner didnt. Very hard to get going again after that. Of course the second would've won with a proper jump at the last and contributed to the third losing his chance. Do think also (not in this case but manyvothers) that the winning distance thing should not be the deciding factor in inquiries as they seem to be these days. If a horse gets clobbered, loses all momentum, gets beaten a length it shouldn't be deemed ok as it was more than a neck.
Report formoftheace March 11, 2026 8:46 AM GMT
Should have been thrown out just for incompetent ride tbh….
Report loper March 11, 2026 10:45 AM GMT
ELII doesn't seem to understand the rules that the stewards are guided by.

If a horse interferes with another and effects his positioning position (not just first past the post) then he has to be placed behind the interfered with horse.

Paddy was beaten a nose for 2nd, are we really saying that he still would have been third without the interference?!

Clearly he would have finished 2nd therefore the horse that caused the interference (Old Park Star) has to be placed behind Paddy. Them are the rules.
Report Rico-Dangleflaps March 11, 2026 1:20 PM GMT
they dont do that scenario though.

They have done. I remember the 2021 Bet365 Gold Cup as i had backed Potterman(finished 2nd)in the race.
Enrilo won but hampered Kitty's Light(finished 3rd)
Winner was demoted to 3rd after SE. My ew bet went from a place only to a fortunate win and placeExcitedExcited

They have done.

korr wrecked..then abolished.
Report swiftynifty March 11, 2026 2:39 PM GMT
If they'd decided after viewing all angles that in fact it had affected the result, things could've become messy. Unless they knew instantly of course! Maybe they're now using automated VAR stewarding.
Report Rico-Dangleflaps March 11, 2026 3:05 PM GMT
f they held an inquiry why wasnt it announced.
Report wondersobright March 11, 2026 3:08 PM GMT
didn't think there was interference or didn't want to turn it around that's why there was no enquiry announced
oh we had an enquiry in the background is total bs imo
Report wondersobright March 11, 2026 3:09 PM GMT
