Which brilliant filly/mare (4yo) beat a Derby Winner "As if he was a Selling Plater", was beaten at 2 at a racecourse that no longer exists.

Hope Ged is well but he is banned from answering.

This isn't that hard, given the talent on here, but it is hard to find questions that are not immediately google'able.

Thanks DrGordons.   Nope, go back a bit before then.  Elise's question a good one.

dahlia was my first thought too

can't claim the credit t'was my father who used to attend many tracks in the north west and midlands, he has made comment on it a few times over the years

sat with him watching maybe pebbles i think and he came out with the story of the best filly he'd ever seen, before my time

Brilliant Elise and thanks for not revealing the answer.  My Uncle Jack said similar and was at Goodwood to see her run (twice?). Thinking about it he bloody could have taken me too.  Could have put me in is wallet, I was only little.

Petite Etoile, twice winner of the Coronation Cup, beating Parthia (Derby winner) in the process. Also beaten at two at now defunct Manchester racecourse.

Thanks. She was a bit before my time but I remember a relative, a big Lester fan, saying Piggott gave her a very poor ride in the King George, trapped on the rail and having to come wide to be second.

Maybe,  Jimmy Lindley told me (Goodwood 2018??) that Aggressor was the best horse he ever rode.  "Brave as a lion" he said, but he did not say it "stood over a lot of ground"Cool

Just watched it. Although it wasn't a great ride from Lester, Aggressor was a good winner.
