Terribly sad news, JV really was a player and then a commentator who
added to the sport.

Quite a shock to hear this sad news after commenting at the Masters tournament. A very funny guy and who could ever forget his hilarious impressions of his fellow players back in the day, especially Alex Higgins, Ray Reardon and Terry Griffiths. Where's the cue ball going, RIP John Virgo.

Irreplaceable, todays commentators are so robotic and devoid of humour in all sports.

Sad news indeed. He loved his horse racing and had a horse in the 80's called "Jokist. "
I used to see him at Windsor amongst other tracks.
