Looking at that effort needs a cart to pull.

Beaten everytime, at big odds-on, at this meeting over the past 4 years.
Report impossible123 February 1, 2026 3:29 PM GMT
Totally exposed. She was hyped by pundits despite beating a poor field in The Triumph.
Report uptheirons February 1, 2026 3:31 PM GMT
Townend has always said Stateman is better
Report sageform February 1, 2026 3:31 PM GMT
Mares could be 123 in the Champion hurdle with these 2 and Golden Ace. The geldings all beaten out of sight there.
Report duffy February 1, 2026 3:32 PM GMT
They are both stayers but BDA is a stronger stayer and can keep going whereas Lossie had the finish dragged out of her by her own stablemate after going a decent pace, Elliott will be sending Mullins a thankyou card for allowng El Fab to play the King of Kingsfield role.
Report liberator of the oppressed February 1, 2026 3:32 PM GMT
We'll see Poppy neck to left looked to me like best day are left well behind might be seasonal you cannot see on that will be in the champion.
Report sageform February 1, 2026 3:32 PM GMT
stateman and Sir Gino are better but they are injured.
Report duffy February 1, 2026 3:36 PM GMT
It's horses for courses though isn't it, we saw last year what BDA did to Stateman even if he wasn't himself, flat track, strong gallop and she's different class, in the CH on an undulating track where they went steadier, that isn't BDA bag and everything fell away, in a steadier run race Stateman has a superior turn of foot and is generally reliable as clockwork.
Report uptheirons February 1, 2026 3:39 PM GMT
A lung bursting run here last year bottomed BDA
Report JohanntheGoatHurdler February 1, 2026 3:41 PM GMT
4 out of 5 runners in a Grade 1 and doesn't win it.
Report slickster February 1, 2026 3:43 PM GMT
Ethical diamond got ALL the parsnips for the season at the breeders Cup.
Report JohanntheGoatHurdler February 1, 2026 3:45 PM GMT
Lol.
Either the horses aren't right or he's playing it very cool until the spring.
Report LoyalHoncho February 1, 2026 3:49 PM GMT
Some are right.  As for parsnips, very stupid comment imv.
Report slickster February 1, 2026 3:51 PM GMT
Naive if you think that. Some are winning some can't even run. Lots are odds on. Sometings up
Report LoyalHoncho February 1, 2026 3:54 PM GMT
Agreed, but it is nothing to do with innuendo parsnips.  Stupid in the extreme.  You must be one of the Mullins haters.

Bookmakers falling over themselves to shorten it for the Mares' Hurdle. On that effort will be lucky to confirm Aintree form with Wodhooh.

The New Lion looks an even worse favourite for the Champion Hurdle. Two mile form is nowhere near good enough, and with hindsight his form over longer doesn't look that good either. And you can add in the poor jumping.

No Drama This End looks another vulnerable favourite. Done everything on the bridle, but I doubt the actual form would be as good as Ballyfad and King Rasko Grey if they reproduce upped in trip. Both could actually improve. Nicholls has made a habit of sending his best novice to this race, and up to now it always gets beaten.
Report slickster February 1, 2026 3:55 PM GMT
Not at all. But I know when somethings clearly not adding up.
Report duffy February 1, 2026 4:05 PM GMT
All things considered I will now set about trying to convince myself that Constitution Hill is going to be able to get over his fear of hurdles.Shocked
Report MJK February 1, 2026 4:06 PM GMT
A lot of the Mullins' shorties that are getting beat this season are jumping poorly. Obviously thats not the sole reason but they should be jumping better than they have been.
Report uptheirons February 1, 2026 4:07 PM GMT
You certainly wouldn't want to lay it,Duffy

Jockey ?
Report LoyalHoncho February 1, 2026 4:08 PM GMT
So why suggest something sinister.
Beaten by a very decent horse on the day.  Didn’t find as usual and, jumped three hurdles very oddly.
A mare has an off day.  Nothing new about that.
Report uptheirons February 1, 2026 4:13 PM GMT
Understanding women and mares is an inexact science, imoLaugh
Report duffy February 1, 2026 4:16 PM GMT
Agree irons, I'm a big fan of BDA but we see her best under today's conditions, she's not acted at the festival twice and is a horrible favourite at the price, playing the percentages at the prices CH is the bet IMO. We know that connections will be desperate to find a reason to have one more throw of the dice, what we saw today will only have increased the temptation to run.
Report Angela Rebecchi February 1, 2026 4:19 PM GMT
I would still target Champion Hurdle with her. Could easily reverse the form with BDA for obvious reasons, and then you've only The New Lion ahead of you in the market.
Report impossible123 February 1, 2026 4:23 PM GMT
What a load of misfits for the Champion Hurdle? Brighter won today, but nemesis is Cheltenham; Lossiemouth loves Cheltenham, but not a 2-miler Champion Hurdle material. Similarly, The New Lion.

Maybe a rejuvenated Constitution Hill with new glasses and a new jockey could surprised all.
Report duffy February 1, 2026 4:27 PM GMT
Perhaps to a lesser extent but today Lossie suffered the same fate as Stateman did at the hands of BDA last year in similar races, she, as he was, was uncomfortable going the pace throughout and her jumping deteriorated, she looked the same as she did at Kempton when taken off her feet through the race. She didn't under perform per se, she ran as good a race as she could but got beat up against a horse that had her optimum conditions.
Report doorman99 February 1, 2026 4:48 PM GMT
No mention of the totally solid Golden Ace, go Goldie...........
Report GoBallistic February 1, 2026 5:21 PM GMT
In all likelihood Lossiemouth would already have won a Champion Hurdle or two except for the Mares Hurdle being a thing
Report uptheirons February 1, 2026 5:22 PM GMT
Really?
Report duffy February 1, 2026 5:25 PM GMT
The market looks a mess but it is fascinating, come on Hendo, the stars are aligningGrin

Forget the Southwell nonsense that'll only trick him into thinking he hasn't got to jump anymore and then if he ran in the CH he'd be doubly confused running down to the firstScared
Report LoyalHoncho February 1, 2026 5:48 PM GMT
Why new jockey?  Please advise.
Report uptheirons February 1, 2026 5:50 PM GMT
Implausible has no reasoning or sense either,Honcho
Report roggrain February 1, 2026 6:20 PM GMT
Shortly after the start Lossie was about the same distance behind the winner as at the finish. The

early part of the race was run at a crawl. In other words, from a furlong or so after the start to the

finish both horses ran the same time. As is the case with so much racing the result can be very

misleading.
Report JohanntheGoatHurdler February 1, 2026 6:27 PM GMT
Looking back through BDA'S form...doesn't seem ground dependent, seems to be stamina-laden, possibly favours flat left-handed tracks?..can it be conclusively stated that she doesn't like Cheltenham after only 2 tries there?
Report duffy February 1, 2026 9:35 PM GMT
I think the race was thoroughly run which contributed to a collapse turning in, up to that point they would have been miles ahead of the earlier novice that was steadily run, the difference bewtween the two mares through the race was that BDA was doing it far easier whilst Townend was having  to use up the petrol on Lossie to maintain his position, this affected her jumping and emptied her late on.
Report sageform February 2, 2026 8:45 AM GMT
What I found most interesting yesterday was Mullins' admission that Mark Walsh insisted on cheekpieces and choosing his own tactic of making all on Majborough was totally different from what Mullins would have done. Losing your job at the end of the season has clearly emboldened Walsh to be his own man. Is Mullins giving too much instruction to Townend as well? The TS and RPR for Majborough will be very interesting. On heavy ground he was only 3 seconds off the course standard time. On paper he could be up to 190!
