I often wonder whether horses were bigger in his day; they certainly stood over a lot of ground. On a serious note, I met him at Goodwood several years ago. He was very elegantly dressed, even dapper!!. I asked him the best horse he ever rode = Aggressor. He said the best 2 year old he rode was Double Jump. He was a good judge. Ones for the oldies

Great watch ( and listen ). Great ending with the Brave’s King George win too. Ruby Walsh is a bit like Jimmy with his in-running knowledge and experienced obs. Many thanks.

You don't realise how good certain folk were until they are gone.
I could listen to Jimmy for hours, even when he says something silly.
He said a filly had a little heart, sure he meant to say big heart..

What would they think of Luke Harvey doing his circus act ?
He doesn’t see it as the sport of kings but ITV entertainment…..
All serious hitters, breeders, owners, trainers, jockeys and others take not you are being entertained…..

I do miss the BBC coverage back in the days of Julian Wilson and Jimmy Lindley. They were becoming dinosaurs by the time Claire Balding joined the team though. I remember Claire Balding when discussing Loch Song in the parade ring before a race saying she had a chest like Eve Pollard and the physical attributes of a Chippendale. Julian Wilson (whom I'm convinced always had the hots for Eve) took umbrage about the comment and then Jimmy Lindley said he couldn't understand the comparison to a piece of furniture...

I wonder what they would have thought about disco music blaring all day along with screeching at Cheltenham coming back to the winners enclosure…..
Dreadful decline tbh….

Thought it was hard on Jimmy to be jocked off Charlottown the horse had been rudden by Jimmy as a 2 yo and when Towser Gosden became to ill to train the horse went to another trainer who put Ron Hutchinson on.Charlottown went on to win the derby

Whenever he spotted his old mate Lester in the paddock he used to regularly come out with "There he is - the maestro his self." Always called it Epson not Epsom. Good judge though and two weeks before the Arc one year he dropped out that he'd been talking to Alec Head and they really fancied Ivanjica. A great tip, Jim and my first big bet/win at 16-1.
