(Status: Pending) Inspection to be held on Monday 05-01-2026 at 11:30 After approximately ¾" of snow yesterday evening with an overnight low of -6.5c, the temperature has started to rise and the track has responded well where it has been worked. Whilst we are unraceable at present we remain optimistic. All other areas will be salted & cleared. As such, we will hold a further inspection at 11:30 a.m.

"unraceable at present" is the ominous part of the statement. I'd say 6/4 ON 2/5 OFF.

If you see "second inspection planned" - assume its off. No matter how many "hopeful" or "optimistic" quotes there are.
I think "confident" had been the word used, steerforth 
Meanwhile Aqueduct can still race with 6 feet of snow on the track and minus 5.
For those of us of a certain age and older it is pretty hard to understand why ALL-WEATHER tracks now fall victim to frost and snow.
In the lifetime of the AW at Wolverhampton, I'd be that they have seen worse weather than today and been able to race. But today things are so mad.
Also, with meetings falling like confetti why are the BHA not giving us extra fixtures?
Southwell yesterday was one, but one replacement seems a rather a token effort. In the same vein, Southwell on Friday stages a jumps card. The weather forecast surely puts it in serious doubt, so why do not the BHA make the fixture an AW one instead? Less disruption and easy to stage given the track's staffing infrastructure will be setup for Friday already.

Not the original racecourse or racegoers if the substitute is elsewhere.
Not the original runners if entries are reopened.
Not the same connections if an AW Flat fixture is substituted for a Jumps card.
Aside from the media companies and betting shop chains, who benefits?

1/ Every lost fixture means less betting levy and thus less money returned to racing.
2/ Many racecourses are part of groups, so if a replacement fixture is at a track from the same group then the overall company does not lose out.
3/ Having a complete blank day (like Monday) is not good for racing because of blank spaces in the media where the racecards would have been - not only in print but electronically as well. What is the problem with this? Well, I strongly suspect that a lot of media editors are not far off dropping racecards from their publications anyway. When that happens racing begins even more of a steep fall from the eye of the public. Not good.
Football dominates in the UK and so editors would rather fill up space with meaningless football gossip rather than racecards. Blank racing days push them in that diection.
4/ Jockeys, valets, stable staff, raceday staff, among others, lose out when their is a blank day. So, I hope this answers your question as to who benefits from replacement fixtures.
And, to end, if you don't see the point of replacemnt fixtures then what is the point of ANY fixtures!!!
