In the days before technology took over some would often tip the staff when winning.

Before the FOBT's "friendly" staff would always be tipped on winnings.
Now they cannot take an early price bet without confirmation

I think tips are well appreciated in bookies esp by the long-serving regular staff. I think a £50 tip for every £1k win is appropriate. And, the odd £5/£10 for smaller wins or even buying takeaways for regular and helpful staff.

I can still remember a sign in a Jennings Shop after they had been "tailed" by a female counter hand for some time.

Aint the staff always stealing the monies from the customers.used to happen a lot.Paying out less than it should.

The first person to win £1m (Thirsk 2008 - 50p acca) didn’t tip a penny

Just moved on from a shop c5 years earlier when a fella won 42k on a Placepot. Tipped the staff the ‘loose change’ - 2k

I'd done that many times in the late 80's tipping or buying takeaways for the entire staff (4). The staff and manager would call me over if I'd not collected on a wrongly written instruction for a bet or overstaked a bet.

But, those were the days.

Just got another score a big thank you to the generous people who bet in Corals Darlo.

I can understand why 'ronnie rails'. You deceive it. I'd "tip" just for the way you've conducted yourself here eg with kindness and decency you've shown to everyone regardless.

I always tip after a decent draw but I'll wait until it's a member of staff that I like and respect. The Hills in Lordship Lane is the only shop I ever use these days and all the staff are friendly and know what they're doing so I'd tip any of them.
