I've been with them for over 2 decades. Earlier today I received a promo email eg bet £20 and get a £20 free bet. As it was the festive period I deposited £20. A few moments (less than 60 seconds) I've a change of mind, and requested a withdrawal. The id verification page popped up; tried again and the same page popped up again. And, the dumb bells at online chat eg a manager named Mike kept citing his company's t&c; deposit was ok, a withdrawal was met with an id verification page.

I'll not give personal and financial info eg driver's licence, hmrc correspondence, utility bill, etc, to unlock my £20. The crooks have taken my £20, and closed my account.

Has any other person been cheated by 'ladcrooks' on that £20 bet promo? I'll contact their CEO and social media eg Trustpilot, etc, for a response about this "sharp" practice.

send them an LBA (templates available online).  you will get your money back.
Report impossible123 December 29, 2025 4:39 PM GMT
Thanks 'hulk23'. I'll do that plus contact Ms Stella David its new CEO. 'ladcrooks' welcome a deposit, but dish out an id verification page upon receiving a withdrawal request.

Trickery and sharp practice the present ethos of 'ladcrooks'.

the OK Corral did the same with me a few years ago when i still had accounts.  Deposited a ton.  Closed the account.  Rang them up, money back pls.  I always remember what he said - "it's our money now, and we're keeping it".  Genuinely Silly
Sent them an LBA.  Week later some manager calls me, we got your letter, no need for that Hulk, very sorry for the misunderstanding we've reopened your account and the monies there.

Fckg chancers.

Good to know their arrogance and sharp practice could be undone with a legal letter. I was gobsmacked when it happened.
I'm just annoyed with the trickery employed eg bet £20, get a free bet.

Poor old Ladbrokes--imagine having to put up with this boring pain in the arse for over 2 decades.
Report hulk23 December 29, 2025 5:13 PM GMT
initially you're just dealing with minimum wage chancers who only work there cos they can't get anything else.  they'll just tell you any old rubbish hoping you'll go away.  when you send a legal letter that's way above their pay grade - someone who knows they've get zero defence will see it and you'll get your money back.

I've never had an id verification with any of the big bookies with high street representations. I can still remember I'd 50p left in a 'ladcrooks' off-line account over 2 decades ago.

As I'm retired I'll leave it for a couple of days for my mind to settle before sending a LBA and emailing Ms Stella David at head office in The City of London. I'll also be bombarding social media about this trickery and sharp practice ie sending an email to a customer promoting a bet, and then deceiving and fraudulently profiting from an account holder and pensioner who've had a change of mind by denying a withdrawal a minute later.

I'll name the individuals I dealt with online in this matter.

Report impossible123 December 30, 2025 4:05 PM GMT
I've not bet with 'ladcrooks' for many months at a time after 'ladcrooks' made it extremely difficult for account holders to bring up older antepost bets; 'ladcrooks' would only show anteposts within a range of 2/3 months at a time eg March to May (not March to Nov, etc) which would mean repeatedly adjusting the date range.

I thought the promotional email (not on their website) for a £20 free bet was a personal invitation because of X'mas and impending New Year festive period. But, it was a trickery to facilitate a deposit (for profit) utilising an id verification procedure. This ruse is a "sharp" practice initiated to deceive the customer, period!

I've emailed the CEO. Her email address is stella.david@entaingroup.com. I think what 'ladcrooks' have done is trickery, unprofessional and outside the conduct stipulated in the Betting and Gaming Act.

I await a response soonish.

I sent an email to Ms Stella David, CEO of Entain yesterday citing Ladcrooks were deceiving a customer of over 2 decades (who's now a pensioner) with a personal promotional email offering a free £20 bet for a £20 wager but, then initiated an id verification procedure immediately upon a request for a £20 withdrawal.

An email arrived just now indicating a full review will be conducted and I'll be contacted within 14 days. I'll update accordingly.

outside the conduct stipulated in the Betting and Gaming Act.

They'll be passing that around the office and having a good laugh.
Report impossible123 December 31, 2025 11:58 AM GMT
I took a complaint to the CEO of this company and IBAS. This company did not have a good laugh, for sure.
As I say, I'll await a further response from 'ladcrooks' within 14 days.

the Betting and Gaming Act was repealed 20 years ago.
Report impossible123 December 31, 2025 12:28 PM GMT
It does not matter. It may have been repealed - you seemed pretty clued up with it. Nonetheless trickery was employed by 'ladcrooks' to deceive and profit by sending a personal email to a customer was against fair play, professionalism and conduct expected of a participant. In another industry it will be deemed "sharp" practice.

'dave1357', you seemed pretty clued up. What'd you suggest? Just accept their trickery, and do nothing? If so, I do not subscribe to doing nothing when I've been wronged or noticing an offence has been committed eg an individual stealing food from a supermarket; a motorist getting into a car and driving away after drinking in a pub or restaurant.

I've been brought up to be civil-minded and not self-serving.
Report dave1357 December 31, 2025 12:32 PM GMT
you have a good point, if you were misled by an email, but depositing and immediately withdrawing is going to trigger every automatic alarm on their systems no matter the amount.
Report s.kenbo December 31, 2025 12:35 PM GMT
Do you think a red flag could possibly be raised when a punter deposits, and then withdraws that deposit seconds later?

I’d say asking for I.D in that situation isn’t a bad thing whatsoever.
Report impossible123 December 31, 2025 12:39 PM GMT
Another swift response from 'ladcrooks'.
Neil, a case manager, has just emailed to say £20 has been refunded to my account, and it typically takes 2-3 days for it to be processed. He also said 'ladcrooks' respect your decline to provide physical evidence for id verification for a past time.

I think it's a result for common sense. I also think it's a result for anyone who'd otherwise thought about complaining to the CEO of a betting entity using trickery to profit.
Report SOULDANCER December 31, 2025 12:54 PM GMT
I had message off Ladbrokes requesting verification and telling me I can't deposit or withdraw till I do. luckily I had withdrawn the bulk of my money months before, only left £100 in there. I will continue to bet with that until I lose it  or win enough to want to withdraw it.
Won't be verifying, too much hassle for me.
Report impossible123 December 31, 2025 1:27 PM GMT
'SOULDANCER', may I ask why you'd want to bet with them anymore? Nothing but aggravation if you happen to increase your account balance if you ask to withdraw.

My account has been closed. I do have a few antepost bets live. If there's a return in the future I'll go back to Ms Stella David to request a withdrawal, and then close my account permanently. Or post in receipt of this £20 I'd ask for the stake money back on the 'live' bets. But, I'm just glad I'm refunded.

'ladcrooks' have wasted their human resources and time dealing with my complaint and correspondence. An initial withdrawal request could have been settled amicably and swiftly using a smidgeon of common sense.
Report SOULDANCER December 31, 2025 1:36 PM GMT
Impossible I just can't be bothered to sort it out. I consider its still my money when I want it. If my bank goes up to say £300 I will request my money and close my account.
Report impossible123 December 31, 2025 1:45 PM GMT
I can understand. I left it for a couple of days before I emailed Ms Stella David. I was incensed 'ladcrooks' would use trickery for a profit. I hope you can withdraw your winnings in the future.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was a deliberate act.
We all know about his pathological hatred towards bookmakers and the numerous disputes he's had with various ones in the past.
He seems to thrive on these disputes.

And remember the time he told us (about 6 times) that he always emptied his Betfair account overnight before depositing again the next day.

The pettiness of this guy has no limit.

The £20 was supposed to have been processed on 29th Dec, yet it's not showing in my account today (3rd Jan). It was supposed to take between 1 and 3 days. However, a withdrawal from another betting entity dated 1st Jan is.

Now, I'm apprehensive to deposit any in case I'm faced with the same predicament. My betting days are almost over.
