Can see how it will divide opinion and undoubtedly travelled really well. Lost a few lengths at a vital time, where he looked to get a bit outpaced or didnt quicken like he thought it would. imo however he rode it after that, the horse was never going to win. Plenty reason for the drift, the front 2 really well backed and in the end the winner has done it well enough. Looked a decent little heat and you would think it should win a race.
Probably would want the ride back again but not bent or stopped imho.

Report Rico-Dangleflaps December 15, 2025 2:57 PM GMT

Not much Christmas Spirit here this week with both Sean and Harry getting pelters, the best 2 in the country by a country mile, theres been at least half a dozen this season that would have won under no other jockey, the guys a different level, just needs to tweak his Cheltenham stats where Harry has him on toast.

its not compulsory to come from another county , its within the rules to ride them closer to the pace

Best horse won, Bowens got out paced home bend to second last, winner still getting away from him over last, Bowens has attempted to pick up a tiring 2nd near the line, Sean settled it beautifully as it was up in trip and would have been mindful of going after it too early in case it not get home, gets a mark in the 90s fill ya boots.

if wanted it was 1.01 to be placed.
Report Hugo-Hackenbush December 15, 2025 4:45 PM GMT
It was not ridden to obtain its best possible placing, that was blatantly obvious, and im a big Bowen fan but today he was riding to instructions. Drift told the story sadly.

Report paulybad December 15, 2025 4:53 PM GMT
Or maybe it was ridden to gain the best possible outcome, if they thought it may be a non stayer, was a learning outing obv and not the day to get involved, if they all ran to full merit every race you would have a country full of poorly handicapped animals, they want them right twice a season, the runs between present opportunity to competitively handicap your horse, connections pay the bills, Sean still the best we have.

You have to laugh.  Bowen is our hero and there must be a good reason he didn’t ride one properly.  I didn’t hear the same sympathy for young Kitts a few weeks back.

Don`t need to watch the race , all jockies work for someone , and it is not us punters . They are told to cheat by the people that pay their wages full stop!
They are riding to orders 99% of the time in situations like this! They do deserve the flack because they are cheating punters and killing the sport! Which is now mostly just a business. Paid assassins , they do the dirty work in races like this , but under orders to do so imo . Why ride this way if not ? we all know he is better than this !

Too true, but the bigger irony is the other side - the bowing and scraping around certain jockeys and trainers, and then the suddenly hardcore stewards when something innocuous happens, to a person(s) of no-interest usually, and they chuck one out.
