On a day of very poor quality, I thought this was the only race of much interest. Shame the favourite has come out. I backed him, but I thought he made heavy weather of winning on racecourse debut. I backed Press The Button each way last night so no places and a heavy rule 4. Not great, but occasionally it can work to your advantage. Fingers crossed today is one of those days.

Visually this horse would have been more impressive than any of these on rules debut. He is probably the outsider on the basis he showed nothing in two points for O'Grady. I wouldn't hold that against him. It's not often you can actually see a horse quicken up like he did on rules debut. Having travelled well he won with any amount in hand. The form is untested, but he is one of a very small sample who have actually turned up for the stable this season. Maybe a few shoots of recovery in the last week? The horse has lots of scope, and is well bred. It's the 'copper' family most associated with the Coffey family. The big question mark today is the ground, and on a more testing track. Both sire and dam acted on the soft, and you would hope the trainer would pull it if he felt it was too testing. Often these races are a case of last off the bridle, and that scenario might suit. Even if he bombs today, I think he is worth following back on a sounder surface.

Disappointing - despite market support - but always a chance that might happen. Travelled into the race almost as well as the winner, but has stopped to nothing once asked to pick up. Doubt he will be running on anything like that surface again. Winner was keen, so either very good, or the only one who properly handled the surface?
