Skelton Blasts BHA Just For Upholding Rules

Although with the BHA its one rule for them and one rule for us typical of an organisation which stinks with an air of superiority.

It was my first offence but I've been fined £1,000 – and it has left a bitter taste in my mouth. It's the sort of thing that causes needless friction between racing professionals and the BHA. What the hull has it got to do with good and evil?  If it is his first offence Skelton has a more than fair point.  An admonition, or even a guilty with suspended sentence, would surely have sufficed in this case.

Fair point? In fact it is no point at all. He thinks that because he feels he promotes the sport they should just let him off? The rules don't say we will let you off first time - the rule itself is the warning. Crazy stuff. There have been a few pundits who have called out late entry, let's see if they now suck up to Skelton. 

This is a stable that flies very close to the wind in terms of perception of schooling in public and obtaining favourable handicap marks. How is that promoting the sport?

on a busy day when they are holding up a major meeting i think the bha are right, punters don't want clashes, the tv channels likewise and it helps the levy if races go to time

plenty moan on here about racecourses not adhering to start times, sends a message to all trainers

its hardly rocket science, Dan as per thinks hes above the "rulebook".

Wasnt he comparing the fine size to the paltry £500 fine for the clerk of the course and his false going descriptions ? ( that als effects the punter )

More selective commenting ignoring the fact that what he was saying was there appears to be a disparity between the fine given to a COC for a deliberate act of misleading going stick readings e.g a more serious breach but a lesser fine? Personal prejudice aside it is fair comment is it not?

Of course they are separate things elise but commenting on here and twisting the context is rife but I suppose facts don't get clicks?

facts are he was late and broke a rule that has been in place a while, i totally agree the coc should have been checked out not fined

Because it was grade one penzance hence the higher entry rate.

So different drum, he has not been punished for late entry to the paddock but for “flying too close to the wind with regard to perceived schooling in public and “obtaining” “favourable” handicap marks”.  If that is the case it is even more limp-wristed judgement.by this shockingly inept BHA.

If he has been guilty of such misdemeanours and/or your version of cheating in the past - and I agree he probably has - then why didn’t these privileged wimps not deal with these issues at the time?  It is ridiculous to punish anyone for perceived previous misconduct without calling them out for it in the first place.

Laughable comments from Skelton here. Every day he wakes up he should thank his lucky stars of the outcome of the George Gently case - a £6K fine imposed by the BHA.

I agree again.  But that’s the BHA for us.  Inept, inefficient, not fit for purpose.

Skeltons lucky. He's almost at the stage now where he's untouchable. The BHA pretty much never take on the big yards so when they give what is in reality a small fine on a trivial issue he chucks his toys out the pram. Take in on the chin Dan, don't you realise this is the BHA attempting to show everyone that the rules are applied fairly no matter who you are. Go along with the charade shhhh.

Great posts from some on here...the trainer got a minimal fine for blatantly lying to the Regulaor lied to the owners of a well known horse about concealed ownership and that the horse was probably already injured when sold

To be fair to the clerk of the course, he was not trying to pull the wool over punters eyes.
He was trying to give an accurate going description,  which the going stick fails miserably at.

I agree although I am defending him on this one issue, as I would any other trainer who committed the same first offence error.
I was very vocal on here about his Langer Dan fraud in the ‘24 Coral Cup hurdle and the owner deception case too, in fact I was outraged, but on the first one the stewards and BHA did nothing and on the second they didn’t do enough. Imv.
I don’t like the guy.  I grudgingly have to accept that he is a very talented trainer.  I do feel that on this particular case in question he
, and /or anybody else committing the same late offence, could have been warned that his explanation was noted and warned as to his future failing in this area.
It would be interesting to discover how many, and who, trainers have received the same fine for this failure in recent times and if in fact any have had their similar indiscretion over looked?
End of from me.  He isn’t worth the effort to defend but the issue is.
