If you read trainer thoughts made no secret that they rated the horse, and full marks to them sending it out knowing it's job with a positive ride. Even after the race Barber still going on about the Skelton runner when the best horse has clearly won.

Stable in fantastic form but,you would end up potless guessing on theirs over time

wouldn't have minded this one winning, if the other supposed top runners had even managed to bother getting into the race - and what happened to the jollie that won a 50k bumper - god knows.

I had decided that Gidge was the main trier yesterday (Fergal usually likes Kelso ), and of course the dreaded ' 4th in a photo ' , vets reported ataxia , hope she is ok .

There is an element of 'guessing' to all bets. If you are more charitable you would say they are a result of varying degrees of analysis.
There were question marks over the actual quality of yesterday's field. The form of the favourite was untested; she had gone off 16/1 ridden by someone riding her first winner; she hadn't run for quite a while; she was unproven on the ground and the Mullins yard has yet to hit top gear. Plenty of reasons to oppose. The second favourite had just won a Carlisle bumper. It's the nature of bumpers that form is limited and untested. That's their appeal. As I said the very much in-form stable had made no secret that they rated the winner. Even if you didn't take that at face value it was eyecatching to see a newcomer starting off in a listed race. The price very quickly collapsed (Coral/Ladbrokes were slowest to react) and the support was sustained into the following day only drifting from 8/1-12/1 late on. In terms of a national hunt yard I think the Moore stable is on the improve aided by a decent stable jock. Those who took the 33/1 will be pretty silly to give it back in a hurry. |
