Dewsbury railway station has a cracking bar on it which sells very good beers I would recommend anyone to visit it,one day I decided to have a walk into the town which was a real eye opener and certainly wouldn’t do it again ,however the prize goes to Ashton under lyne in east Manchester despite having an excellent Indian restaurant the place is horrendous.

Blackpool still has its appeals though you need to pace yourself alcohol intake wise, having breaks to fill up at some of the many ‘quality’ greasy spoons. Blackpool - on the - Elbe has similarities to Hamburg- on the - Fylde.

Have to agree Blackpool not great. Yet a couple of miles down the coast there is St Annes and Lytham which are really nice.

Luton. We planned to bypass it but ended up in a maze of streets and the few people we asked who spoke English had no idea which way to go to escape. No road signs at all. I ended up wondering how many of those we spoke to had ever found a way out. Dublin was close behind but there were road signs. Took 3 hours to cover 3 miles trying to get to the airport. Never going back to either. I can't really comment on any large towns in England outside of a car as it is many years since I risked that.

South Shields in the North East.
Hetton Le Hole lives up to its name as well. |

Newport and Swindon are fairly high up from my experience, for the southern visits.
Swindon was a bit of a surprise must admit, had thought it would be ok, but was a complete dive. |
|
By:
It has to be Thornton Heath near Croydon. It's a dump! Reckless drivers and lawlessness aplenty. And, most of the streets are littered with smelly rotting household wastes.
|
|
By:
I used to have to visit Swindon as I lived about 20 miles away but a long time ago and it had nothing to enjoy then either. I must admit that the only part of any English town that has ever impressed me is central London back in the day when it was not heaving with tourists. Arrive at Paddington station, walk across Hyde Park and into Knightsbridge.

Stoke. end of thread. Pedantry alert - Stoke is a city, please refer to thread title. As is Newport, stu. No mention of Chatham (aka Chavham) yet which usually gets an honourable mention. Was probably cleaner and had less undesirables littering it's streets in Dickens's days. |
|

Never been there but Barrow was once described to me as "a good place to leave" from someone who was born there and did.

By:
Cheetham Hill in Manchester. The infamous Strangeways Prison is close by too for those who are that way inclined. I believe it houses gangsters, murderers, rapists or any unsavoury characters of society.
|
|
By:
Yes, fair play if we're only leaving Towns, I'll knock off Newport - though it would do very well on the 'City' list!
Barrow a pretty good shout too I'd say paris |

Have you ever been to cheetham hill impossible?

Blackpool still has its appeals though you need to pace yourself alcohol intake wise, having breaks to fill up at some of the many ‘quality’ greasy spoons. Blackpool - on the - Elbe has similarities to Hamburg- on the - Fylde. I just remember the main strip smelling of cooking oil |

Having followed Portsmouth FC the length and breadth the following have no redeeming qualities. Luton, accrington, Blackpool and London. With a particular mention for Harlesden, Tower Hamlets and Whitechapel within the M25.
