Judging by the rueful look I exchanged with Alan Potts after Wendigo had pulled the race out of the fire, I wasn't the only punter who had been counting my winnings when No Questions Asked had cruised to the front. Alan 'the Beard' Francis was another - he reckoned Ben Jones had gone too soon, which Ben Jones does sometimes do. But Wendigo is such a stayer ... Though, as A Francis commented, that is why we had all been against it over 2 1/2 miles in the first place.

I am not sure No Questions Asked would have won had he held on to him. It's not as if he went five lengths clear. For me he is a horse who probably will never find that much extra off the bridle.

No Questions Asked does win more often than he loses - going into today's race he had won six out of his ten races and been second only once.

I'm not looking for an argument here - it's hard on the face of it to see how Ben Jones could have done anything other than cruise into the lead, what with the favourite having taken H Cobden along at a million miles an hour. It was just one of those situations where the very, very best jockeys somehow anticipate things, time things right and just get things done without us really noticing it. Ben Jones isn't the worst jockey going, but he's not yet one of those very few, very, very good ones.

The winning ride made up for the inept ride at Worcester

Put it this way: I felt annoyed about losing money, but not angry about the result. I didn't feel robbed, just bemused. That's horse racing.

Yes, uptheirons. I laid the winner at Worcester, when Sheehan treated Wendigo to a schooling round.

Bloody horse racing.

There's a difference between a discussion - that's what forums should be for - and an argument.

The most competitive hurdle race No Questions Asked ran in was the one he led quite late, but got run down at Huntingdon.

I occasionally criticise him, but I think Jones is one of the best chase jockeys in the country. He is a long way removed from the worst jockey going.

Looked a very thin crowd.

And a poor Hennessy in prospect, can hardly be bothered to look at the runners.

Good luck.

A maximum Field with a few unexposed horses

No winner for the last seven years has even merited a Wiki entry

The race used to belong to the likes of Denman and Native River

It doesn't help that bookies in the UK and IRE are allowed to add 2% margin on a maximum field.

Teeton Mill.
Who can a does bet with the Books?
Report unitedbiscuits November 28, 2025 10:05 PM GMT
Well I would rather take a few points under the exchange offer because:

1) Best odds guaranteed

2) Lack of liquidity on the exchange (drying up like the Aral Sea only 30k matched so far on the 2:55)

3) Pitypoints accrue for bad bets

4) No comm on winning bets

5) I tend to bet in multiples - waiting on that Black Swan event.
