Was low sun a factor do you think? Poor lad, hope he isn’t badly hurt. Too many jocks having bad falls nowadays.

Air ambulance wasn't used...taken away in a normal ambulance. Didn't hear any other details Elise.

Inexperienced riders and tired horses. Very sad if badly injured. Same surname as the trainer so horrible for dad if he is badly hurt.

fwiw it doesn't mean they are less seriously injured. depends upon where they are going. and often they are too ill to go by helicopter, in case they need to be resuscitated on the journey. so often it can be a bad sign. |

Update -
The dad of an amateur jockey who was injured in a fall which saw an air ambulance called to the racecourse has given an update on his condition. Keiran Burke said his son Louis fractured several vertebrae after falling from their horse Danzini in the opening race at Wincanton on Thursday. The incident led to the aircraft landing at the track and the following contest, a mares' maiden hurdle, was delayed by 49 minutes. Many industry professionals and fans of the sport had been concerned for amateur rider Louis, who has only had a couple of rides on the National Hunt circuit. Hours later, dad Keiran posted on social media: "Thank you so much to everyone who’s reached out about Louis. He’s bruised and has a few fractured vertebrae, so he’s still in hospital at the moment, but the doctors are confident he’ll be okay with rest and recovery." We All wish him a Speedy recovery. |

Great news. You read “4 fractured vertebrae” and shudder with dread. Well done Dad for letting us know. Very best wishes to the lad.

Too right, 4 vertebraes and he'll be ok with rest and recovery - good luck to the lad

Depends whether they are stable or unstable. From the relatively positive update, sounds like they are stable fractures, fortunately.
