I have swerved Cheltenham again - just two bets over the three days for a small loss. Not too surprised that in the last Chicker has been supported against the short priced favourite who hails from a woefully out of form yard. That said the unknown ground doesn't make it a bet, and likely that Bud Fox is just a much better horse.

So just a couple at Fontwell, including this one. He was available at 20/1+, but I took four places at 12/1. The first thing to say it isn't a great race, and the favourite looks very short almost by default. Although he didn't kick on, Escort'kheops showed some promise in his points, and made my annual pointers list for last year. He went off shortish on bumper debut, and I thought he ran pretty well on his reappearance when markedly upped in class behind the above mentioned Chicker. If he translates that I think it puts him in the mix for at least a place.

Each-way comfortably landed, although no threat to the favourite. Not sure who was on the best part of track. Escort'kheops looks the part, and if they can teach him to shorten up he might be able to find a modest race over hurdles before jumping fences. Had he jumped better today he would have been a comfortable second.

Thanks, I put the right one up as my other one was Scorsese. Every chance before taking for me the worst type of fall, jumping the fence and just crumpling on landing.

Bud Fox, yet another Cromwell duffer, found nothing off the bridle. Bookmakers get the front two stuffed and go away happy.

5 Runs on and if anything his jumping is even worse. Lucky that he found a very ordinary race. You would think the jock should be doing a lot more to organise him. At the moment he is just allowing the horse to make mistakes. Hard to see him going in again under a penalty.
