High cruising speed but lacking a bit of bite.Potentially smart but like you suggest, likely alien conditions for his introduction.

I wouldn't oppose it, I remember Billy Fury's Anselmo, 4th in the Derby and 3/1 paper fav on its hurdles debut, even after drifting to around 14s, it bolted up under the great Johnny Haine.

I'd not back it today; the ground will not be to his liking. Until he rediscovers his mojo or geest for racing again it's financially prudent to steer clear of him. He's 7 at the moment.

a lot of these high class flat horses dont take to hurdles and then ineffective when switched back to the flat and career pretty much over - some notable exceptions like purple moon
this horse when on form on the flat was travelling like a dream and not really finding much - cant imagine him digging in too much up the hill at cheltenham all that said i wont be laying him and hope im wrong and he either takes to hurdels or find his form back on the level as looked potentially very good as a 3 year old |

Interesting race to watch, especially as AF has had a wind op, which may help him to finish his races.

tricky yard..if drift they norm dont win..they nah the time of day.
By:
gone sour, no experience over hurdles & ex-flat horse tackling bad ground...fancy this be off the board
By:
very keen to post

he'll pull like mad & he'll be off the board imo
By:
A big lay. He's running to freely.

considering that actually run pretty well albeit a moderate 4th
By:
bit keen but still disappointing..winner was huge drifter late on..skellers dont norm get it wrong.

2/1 3 out..imposs123 just copped the lot. wd.

Not 'disappointing' at all
A very pleasing debut |
By:
I don't think anybody could be pleased with it

That drifted cos Harry was clearly going to employ exaggerated waiting tactics on the walk-in, never mind the race. Bit scruffy jumper, too.
By:
Pleasing is an appropriate description for the run. A bookie's friend, however.
By:
he's done it all wrong only natural ability got him 4th & I'd say they knew he had natural ability 2nd in a derby
By:
no I'd say a punter's friend because that was a total stripe out @ 6/1 imo
By:
wen skellers hosses dubble late they rarely win.
By:
jumped really well and ran well considering how free but unless theres tons of improvement to come he’ll just be fairly moderate over jumps imo
By:
drifted because going to get the drop out ride & kept away from best ground...won despite it likely v nice horse
By:
very odd for a flat horse to be ridden like that first jumps surely - throttle out, or did jock not have a choice...?
By:
didnt lead by default..intended..
imo |
By:
Running round for buttons over Jumps when he would clean up if they sent him to Australia ffs.

Probably end up Horse Of The Year down under.

Considering the bad ground was probably against him and the fact that he wasnt fancied to win by connections, AF ran a terrific race, not putting a foot wrong and keeping on well when beaten. I reckon hes got tons of improvement in him and I wouldnt be surprised to see him back here in March.

Better ground on a flat track ... weighed in.
By:
keeping on well ,WENT OUT LIKE A LIGHT
By:
Unfortunately, for four place layers, it kept on a little bit too well.
By:
Another US Army Ranger type of horse. He's definitely a strong candidate to the poor house if backing him again.
By:
A runaway that is extremely unlikely to be slowed down by any of my money

What would be the point of running in a Novice at Stratford?
By:
Another promising young horse blown apart by competing in the Epsom Derby. A few horses seem to thrive on the place but the majority never get over it.
By:
It was a complete fruitcake before Epsom, sage.
By:
It's very rare that we ever see the best of those loons that fight the jockey. The Derby was actually the exception in his case.

2.23 today.
Promising enough first time out at Chelters. Sharp track ought to suit, appears to be the positive. |
