Slow day

Whatever happened to the "next John McCririck" last seen in Thailand or something.  Anyone remember the podgy zebedee type character?

Ronnie there’s a thing on YouTube I think it’s called 40 interviews with racecourse bookmakers I’m not sure how you will find but if you can it’s worth a watch, what is very noticeable is the way the vast majority of bookmakers back then dressed compared to the vast majority now.

In my day on course it was always important to look at a bookmaker's shoes. A pretty reliable way of judging whether one would get paid out or not.

Very true. I remember having to wait weeks and weeks to get paid out by AE Turner (Oxford) Ltd after Go Mary had won the Mares' Final at Newbury. I'd made the mistake of just looking at his head (bowler hat) and ignored his feet.
