Since 2019 on Saturdays Wetherby card the Skeltons have picked up 1-3 winners every year, theres probably a system there for anybody that can be arsed to make 1.
I’m currently looking at Kateira 7/2 as the value bet in the mares hurdle to take on Golden Ace at 1/2. I noticed previous grade 1 winners haven’t won that race and I don’t fancy Desert Enos in this (ahem) fascinating 3 horse encounter. Had a quick look based on Oct/Nov CL 1-4 races on Saturdays at Wetherby and overall record reads 17/56 since 2014 and profitable backing blind at SP. However all 17 winners were 1st - 3rd favs and showed a 17/36 record for a +33 point gain at BFSP. So when 1st - 3rd Favs hurdlers have a 14/25 record (+33 pts) runners who last ran with 25 days reads 8/12 + 23 pts (7/10 if ridden by Harry) or unraced/last ran 91+ days = 10/15 + 13 pts (7/13 if ridden by Harry) |

perfect start to a plan for someone who wants to run in mares hurdle at chelt instead of seeing his reigning champion lapped in the champion hurdle

Scoped dirty after the race

Scoped dirty,

What prevents them from scoping them pre-race at course?
|
|
By:
They are scoped pre race but the horses cannot talk and say they feel a tad off colour.
|
|

I know that Up. But if they are scoped pre-race, why did GA not scope dirty? If they can do it so quickly post-race then they could surely do it just as quickly pre-race? It is surely inconceivable that they can "pass" a pre-race scope then fail a post-race scope? I had no interest in the race but it surprises me they can get a result so soon after a bad run. They should simply do that at 12 noon.

Leave that yard alone for the time being then.

The problem is,they are always on the bridle at home and scope clean. It is when they come under pressure that the low grade viral infections come into play.DP.

Thanks Honcho.
I have known Trainers totally perplexed as to how their horses look a million dollars and run like drains at the Course because of low grade virus' With patience it comes right eventually. Are you doing the late shift tonight? |
|
By:
Yes. That’s the plan at the moment.

I would be pretty confident that half of trainers don't habitually scope pre race and just do it once they suspect a bug in the yard. It is another expense for owners as the vet would need to come out and also it is very unpleasent for the horse. Regular blood tests a better option as the trainer can usually do that theirself and send direct to the lab and compare the horses regular profile like Pipe does. I would bet odds on GA wasn't scoped pre race as his others have all been running into places if needing the run slightly (eg Newton Abbot tues).

All Trainers have different approaches.
I know a trainer that trains a hundred winners a season that does not even have the facility to weigh his horses |

Accepted Up. And I take the point on expense Door. That said. You are a small(ish) yard with a CH winner going first time out. I would think you could spare a few £ for a scope pre-race. After all (and I know little about horse's physiology), who knows what that will do to the horse for the next month or so. Hey ho. I do hope it comes back as it was wonderful to see it win the CH albeit in fortunate circumstances.

Just posted a totally innocuous response to your 17.46 irons and it has been retained for moderation, which means we’ll never see it again.
