Where did i say he wanted to lose.maybe he got there and waited and was caught out.

“Stopped going through with a winning ride” sounds very much like you thought the jockey was at fault.

We know you do abba, the trouble being that your opinion, re-stated, is sometimes ambivalent.  You either think he stopped riding to throw the race or, for some other unstated reason, stopped going through with a winning ride.  Hence our confusion.
