Nice to see the short clip this morning. Easy to forget that Davy Lad won a Gold Cup. He was only 5 when he won this. Cancello was better at shorter and won a Mackeson the following year. Race did have a really good role of honour, but is another to have declined this century.

Me too. I always feel five is too young to excel over fences. Are horses bodies ready for the consequences at that age?
