As short as 7/1 for the Guineas.

How is that tempting? There are three versions, and he has now had two trips to France. Add in that in recent seasons the trainer hasn't seemed too bothered about the Newmarket version; the number of other possible stable runners, and the fact it has been a very ordinary 2yo year.

Ante-post is rarely tempting and 8/1 is short given there is still a whole winter to get through.

BUT, this horse has won 2 Gp1's back to back very easily. And, in the Champagne Stakes at Donny in September he ran all over the subsequent Dewhurst winner.

After the Dewhurst, the always excitable ITV Racing team were putting the Dewhurst winner up as the  'Champion 2yo', but had totally forgotten Puerto Rico had beat him at Donny.

Has it been an ordinary 2yo year? Yesterday's Futurity looked quite tasty to me. Perhaps not a vintage year, nevertheless surely a bit better than ordinary but with no really outstanding youngsters...

Ordinary year with the 2 year olds is been polite.

Is Puerto Rico has had a very bust year and wouldn't be for me at 8/1, that was his 8th race this season. Wouldn't surprise me if they retired it at the end of the season and pack it off to stud.

He came 3rd behind True Love in France. If only he'd not been messed about by AOB.
